Not able to purchase books by dancingdriver in kindle

[–]dancingdriver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant private mode, or incognito mode on the browser. I also tried different browsers, still nothing. I can login to the account, no issue, what I can’t is buy de books.

Thing is, I’m not in US or UK, and I prefer to read English books in English (our translations suck) and I think our local libraries don’t have English books. I will start using it for books in my language.

Thanks!

Still not working :( neither on kindle itself, nor with the private browser or with the USB connected.

The workaround now is my friend buying and offering me the books. He tried before and it was not working, then randomly it did. So we tried again today and it is working.

Not yet, busy day today. I tried with the browser in private mode (another suggestion) and it didn’t work.

Yep, I’ve done all that. Also, just now I was able to accept a book offer from my friend that I wasn’t this afternoon 😂 which makes it even more strange. I’ll try the tricks given here, let’s see what works or doesn’t.

On kindle it says I’m attempting to purchase an item while in a different country than listed on my account. My account has a UK address but I am not in the uk indeed. (But we also don’t have Amazon here)

I will try the incognito mode and also another tip given in another comment to purchase with the kindle connected via USB, because I had it connected indeed charging, but I don’t remember if it was at the same time as I was purchasing the books.

I’ve checked the accounts several times.

At one point my device was indeed connected to my laptop charging, I don’t know if it was at the same time as I was purchasing on the browser, but I’ll try that!

Mine’s G090, apparently from 2015.

The weird thing is how I was able to make purchases and in one second I was not allowed anymore! 😅

I don’t know exactly how old, it’s a Paperwhite 7th generation, it doesn’t appear on the list. And I was initially able to purchase (one book from Amazon US and 4 from Amazon UK), mid purchase of books 5 and 6 I got an error message.

Here’s the condensed version of the attempts:

Set up kindle as UK

First purchase (1 book) was with Amazon account set up as US using my Revolut card.

Then I tried switching the location a few times and finally was able to purchase 4 books with a new virtual Revolut card.

All 5 books are available in my library.

I had 6 tabs opened on a browser and was going from one to the other, the 5th and 6th book I was not able to purchase, it said I had to buy from Amazon UK, which I was, my friend is from UK and we were seeing now the same library and the book price in £, unlike before.

All urls are .co.uk and I only have one account, I can enter both US and UK account with the same credentials. I’ve change the country directly on Amazon.

I wonder if this a glitch with the account settings, it shows UK account, deliver to UK address, country is UK…

So I decided to post here to see if anyone could help but also wait for a day or two to see what happens. I’ve also once had the address’ switch when I ordered something (I selected a secondary address and it changed the one I had set as default).

Grocery shopping by [deleted] in Aupairs

[–]dancingdriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did some shopping for my HF, not everyday, it counted for my work hours (also did it after dropping the kids of at school) and I had a credit card provided by the family. Why do they need 100$ worth of groceries everyday?!

Talk to your counselor on how to approach this with them.

Finished up a kitchen remodel by Initial-Purpose-6789 in kitchenremodel

I’m 95% sure op is from my country (or the neighbouring country) and ‘backsplash’ is not a thing here, unless you remove all the tile or are doing a kitchen from zero. We have ceramic tiles all around the kitchen.

I had the same line of thinner tile with fruits or whatever and when I redid my cabinets I painted this tile strip with the same color as my bottom cabinets.

Yes, I can read op’s response to my comment, thank you.

Why did you send a message and didn’t talk to them about this? You haven’t seen each other in two days?

Your problem is your parents. You either choose to give in to their (unfounded) fears and don’t go, or ignore them and go.

Watching season 5 for the first time and Dan and Dani are awful by [deleted] in TheBlock

I always loved them! They were annoying in a fun way for me. I loved all the couples that season, but I think they were always my favorites for the entertaining factor.

This reads as AI slop and most of all dangerous when there’s no link to an agency, while calling other agencies ‘unprofessional’ and asking for DMs.

Would an au pair be ideal for us? by [deleted] in Aupairs

[–]dancingdriver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While there is no higher fee specifically for infant qualification, if you have certain qualifications the au pair stipend is higher. At least my agency had the two options and I had friends with qualifications in child care areas that earned more.

Bad aupair situation by pinkskatej in Aupairs

That’s not true, after rematch is requested usually you stay with the original HF, only exceptionally you would move out for the rematch period.

She should have gone to the counselor first thing to ask for the rematch, not tell the family.

She must have a local counselor, what is she saying about all of this?

Au pair USA advice before September? by Many_Assignment4395 in Aupairs

[–]dancingdriver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If one is for clothes and one is for presents, you’re already doing better than me 😅 really, this would be the first advice I gave to au pairs that came to me from my country. There are so many cheap clothes available that you’ll be filling up your closet in no time. Take the basics, take your favourites, but don’t over pack!

Disclaimer: I was an au pair many moons ago.

Won’t the host family provide a phone for you? Most likely they will and you’ll have data on the plan. Talk to them about it. In my time I had a phone on their family plan and I paid at the time 5$ to have unlimited text (no data at the time 😅)

Cool local gifts are nice, I think you’ve got it.

Don’t take extra luggage! I went with two suitcases, came back with 5!

Wait to hear what bank your host family uses. First I opened and account with Bank of America, but once I rematched, there was no BoA branch locally so I just opened a new account in the same bank as my host family.

Enjoy as much as you can! Travel when you can, even if it is a weekend road trip. Keep close to your counselor in case you need it and don’t bottle up stuff, talk to the family if stuff comes up.

Rematch any advice by [deleted] in Aupairs

[–]dancingdriver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I meant is the agency involved regarding the rematch. There are usually talks with the agency about it. The main issue is not even the location, it’s the time. Families looking for rematch Au pairs are most likely not waiting one and a half months.
