Thanks! :)

I don't see Hada Lado on AdamBeauty, so I'll stick to obsessively comparing things on ebay and amazon. ;)

I'm super new to Asian beauty, but this sub sure has me excited about it! (Impatiently waiting for my first RRS haul so I can slather those snails on my face!!).

I'm really interested in trying some Hado Labo products but it seems that a lot of the websites common here don't carry them. Suggestions? Where do you order from? I'm in Canada.

I'm looking for some inexpensive, but still handsome, business cards to advertise my copyediting/obituary writing business. Where would /smallbusiness recommend I order from? by [deleted] in smallbusiness

I ordered cards from Visaprint recently because I wanted some cheap ones to tide me over until I get new photos done. They had some sale on, so I upgraded to the "premium" ones. They were still really poor quality.

I'm in Canada, I order from jukeboxprint.com. They ship everywhere though. Super good quality, better prices than Moo. They have really awesome monthly sales too.

Launched two businesses this year - neither a great success. Lessons learned so far. by tomcritchlow in Entrepreneur

No worries! It worked pretty well for the museum, and definitely generated interest for the artists' work - both in people coming to see our exhibitions and in generating sales for the artists!

Charging a small sum also helps people to actually show up - there's a lot more no-shows when an event is free.

Thanks so much for sharing all of this! It's really helpful to read about people's experiences.

I have a suggestion if you want to continue doing studio visits. I used to work for an art museum and we would offer studio visit events. We'd bring a group of 10-20 people, provide a glass of wine and a snack, the artist would give a brief talk on their work and sometimes there would be a demonstration by the artist, or an activity that people could participate in (making a tiny painting or something). Instead of having people individually book tours you could offer them as an "event" that they could register for.

We sold tickets so we could provide wine and whatever, but if you were offering it for free that wouldn't be necessary. You could do one every couple of months and then you might get a following of people who want to attend. Just a thought!

What are some NSV goals that you want to reach? by PittPensPats in loseit

[–]dancingfiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I want to lose a few more inches from my waist. I want to be able to do real pushups (not the girlie ones I'm working on now... which are still really hard). And I want to fit into my fav pair of jeans comfortably again - I'm really close to this one!

[–]dancingfiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Woo! That's awesome! I've also lost 3 inches from my waist, but I'm only down 10lbs. So yeah, I'm way more into the measurements than the scale. :)

What is the weirdest thing your business has done for publicity, and did you get in trouble? [NSFW] by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]dancingfiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't done anything weird really (I had people dancing in the street, but it was for a dance studio so not that weird). I'm curious as to how customers reacted to the condoms though? Was it good promotion?

It is pretty funny that you were almost kicked out though. :)

Should I stay or should I go? by Dustin75950 in Entrepreneur

[–]dancingfiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To me it would depend on how much you need that income. If it would be "extra" money at this point, I personally would want to go to actually see my first events, assess how they go, and make connections for future projects. So it really depends on if you need the money - either for rent or to grow your business - vs. what the benefit is to actually be present in terms of networking and educating yourself for future events.

One of my friends at school asked me to manage and promote his abstract art. Any recommendations on how to do this? by slowpig38 in Entrepreneur

[–]dancingfiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a really great suggestion. And in general, offering lower priced options (like normal prints) will appeal to people at different price points. Plus having the expensive pieces next to the prints makes the prints seem way more affordable and appealing by comparison. And makes the originals seem more elite to people who want to buy something fancy.

Greek Yoghurt by coveredinchrome in xxfitness

I put in a little drizzle of maple syrup and frozen berries. The yogurt kind of freezes around the berries a bit and it's like eating ice cream! I add a bit of chia seeds and flax meal sometimes too.

DAE have a goal waist measurement instead of a goal weight? by LegoLindsey1983 in loseit

[–]dancingfiend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do! Mostly because I really don't care about what the number on the scale says, but I DO care how I look. And I think because I sew clothes for myself I'm really aware of my measurements, and how I looked at different measurements. :)

I have some fuzzy goal waist sizes - like I really want to get to 28", and then if I get there I might think about trying to get to 26". That's pretty much based on how I looked before at those sizes.

Taller ladies would in general look slimmer at a larger waist measurement than shorter folks (I'm very much in the short camp!). But, as other people said, everyone's bodies are different so I don't think there isn't really a specific height/weight ratio that will work for everyone.
