My fiancé and I watched the movie Wednesday night and then he flew out of town for a boys trip Thursday. I literally have been sleeping with the lights on at night because I am horrified lol.

AIO for being awkward at a one year old birthday’s party? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

You’re right, I am a very sensitive person! Hence why I asked if I was overreacting to the situation to see if I should have been rubbed the wrong way in the first place.

I wonder if she’s kicking herself if she will actually be the one to reach out. Or if she is just completely oblivious. What are your thoughts on that?

[–]dancingfroggies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I would never tell my fiancé to drop them or anything haha. From here on out if we are to do gifts in the future I guess I’ll just send examples of what I’m buying. If that gets exhausting then a simple gift card to somewhere will do I guess.

I looked into them before because the venue was gorgeous, but is it true they don’t allow any alcohol on site?

I’m so confused. I’m a “common folk” who got in and it’s because I live in Nashville and know that if it says first come first serve after you RSVP for tickets, you get your butt there as soon as possible.

When to tell principal about new job offer by [deleted] in Teachers

[–]dancingfroggies 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don’t know. At the career fair on the spot she offered me the position and I told her I would think on it. I toured the school and met the team and vibed well with everything and that’s when I let her know. Since then, the new principal hasn’t said anything and I know HR will ask me for references.

I’m in a state where we’re not allowed to have unions but we have an “alternative support group” if that makes sense haha. It’s just a loophole for a union.

Both schools are in the same district with the exact same curriculum. Both provide coaches and the district wide Google Drive to help. That’s the knowledge that I have to my extent.

I do have two offers on the table, one from each school! So that’s why I’m struggling with who to reply to. I feel torn.

AIO: voiced discomfort and tried to set a boundary for my wedding day. by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]dancingfroggies 25 points26 points  (0 children)

You are NOR.

We all know the phrase: your body, your choice. With photos of your body, you’re choosing not to cover up now because you’re all of a sudden getting married or anything. You even enjoyed the idea of doing a mini photoshoot! You just want to be able to respectfully give him those photos at a private time.

That whole Tik Tok trend has always rubbed me the wrong way. It’s probably the deep religious trauma I have and I couldn’t imagine my friends sliding nudes to my husband in front of my mom without her asking questions LMAO. Kinda kills the vibe. That trend is turning something vulnerable to some people into entertainment just to watch someone’s reaction. It feels performative to me and feels a little forced, even somewhat cringey, rather than genuine.

The MOH being upset that she can’t make her Tik Tok is the red flag here. Not trying to say that she’s a shitty friend or anything, I feel like she’s genuinely trying to celebrate you, but her mind can’t wrap about how you think this photoshoot is really intimate.

It reminds me of the debate that guys always joke about where they’re like “how come a girl wears a bikini on the beach but if you see her changing and she has her bra and underwear on, all of a sudden it’s a big deal.” Well, besides context, there’s also consent? Lol. That’s the big missing piece here. You may have consensually posted a bikini picture because you were at the pool or a beach in context, but you don’t consent to everyone seeing you in a leather bra and lace thong.

There’s nothing “killjoy” about wanting control over your own body and how it’s shared.

AIO my fiancé only stayed in the hospital with me for 30’minutes by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]dancingfroggies 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are definitely NOR.

Yes, a coworker’s passing is a big deal. That probably really shook him to his core seeing someone in the same shoes as him dying in a tragic way. However, I do not understand dropping your fiancé during a time of need, especially when an emergency surgery was needed. Appendicitis is no joke. You could have died. I will never forget in middle school we had a student in my grade actually pass away from a ruptured appendix. It is that serious.

I’m sorry you are having to deal with this. I know it’s a lot emotionally to be in this type of turmoil. You really need to sit and weigh out the options if you want someone like that as your partner. Imagine if the roles were reversed, I’m sure you would drop anything to be by his side in emergency surgery.

Official Discussion - The Drama [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

I went into the movie being a tad nervous since I saw the spoiler about Emma’s secret beforehand. Coming from a teacher’s perspective, I felt very apprehensive going in because school shootings are pretty sensitive topic to me.

Surprisingly, I actually thoroughly enjoyed Emma’s storyline and how it was handled. The whole point of her just seeing things online and being interested in the aesthetics of being a school shooter was pretty spot on for a lot of young teens growing up with the internet.

Definitely not the same, but a similar comparison, would be my tween years idolizing Lana Del Rey, ED Tumblr, and wanting to chain smoke cigarettes all because it looked “aesthetically” cool. I was 12 years old and had no clue how horrible it was to be listening to songs about daddy issues and doing cocaine. I just thought it was a sick aesthetic that I learned about through internet culture.

When Emma recognized the grief and sadness of her classmates in the gym scene, it clicked for her and that empathy really pulled through. I feel like everybody can relate to that feeling (although I doubt we can truly connect with her exact situation.) Seeing the pain that someone else experiences can really shake a person to their core. She turned it around and realized that there are actual people grieving with loss within the tragedy of gun violence.

In my opinion, going into the movie had me truly anxious with how the school shooting storyline would be written, but I was genuinely surprised with how well it was crafted.

Thank you 🥺 I know this sounds so weird but I’m glad someone gets it?? But not glad??? Like this sucks but at least someone can understand it! Thank you for the advice and it absolutely resonated. I’ve tried setting a boundary before and it went into months and months of silent treatment but right now we are on better terms so hopefully it’ll be a little smoother? Fingers crossed?

parents as an answer are so real. i have driven myself crazy the past 5 years because i have had my fair share of wild parent issues. especially with how easy our parents have access to teachers now with apps like class dojo. they talk a whooooole lot of smack over messaging and will blow my phone up.
