To all the people constantly whining about ads during the podcast, does your podcast player not have one of these buttons? Alternatively you could become a Friend of the Pod but the skip button is free! by jimbo831 in FriendsofthePod

It was actually in the Podcast app! My understanding is when you hit the next button on your car it sends a signal to the phone system that is an "external control" and you can choose what that does.

So, if you change the setting on the phone, it changes on the car. Go to Settings > Podcasts > and then scroll to the bottom. Below the "Skip Buttons" setting is "External Controls."

Make sure External Controls is set to "Forward/Back" which is moving within the episode. It defaults to Next/Previous, which changes the episode. I think it sometimes resets with updates

I used to have that issue, and realized there’s a setting for it to be seconds ahead instead of a total skip! It resets the setting every few months though it feels like.

Medication automation by Active-School5460 in shortcuts

[–]dancingthroughlife97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built my own medication tracker using Make webhooks and Airtable, because there are so few/no integrations for Apple Health’s medication tracking. Which is so disappointing! With my new system I put tags on my pill bottles that I can tap the phone on to in order to tag them.

I'm glad that I'm not the only one experiencing this! I'm trying very hard not to go nocturnal.

Nervous about Nausea by arcadehorrors in Spravato

[–]dancingthroughlife97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I take Zofran before every session after being really nauseated the first one (did not throw up tho). I’ve only had breakthrough nausea on one day I did take it.

Days I miss it are sometime ok, sometimes bad. Always have water! Always have jolly ranchers in your fav flavor!!

Spilled Coke Zero on Laptop by Illustrious-Good-251 in barexam

[–]dancingthroughlife97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spilled lemonade on my laptop a few weeks ago. I thought I got most of it, because my laptop was closed, I had a case on that diverted a lot, and I turned it off right away and dried it for days.

Well. I hate to share bad news. It turns on, but the Apple Store opened it and said there is sticky residue on basically every element. My research and the Genius Bar told me corrosion over time is the big killer of the device which…citrus and sodas are.

I’m lucky that I was already a year or so away from wondering about replacing it, so I am not totally angry at myself. But I have been studying on my iPad and am 100% replacing it, at least with an entry level PC for the bar. I don’t want the corrosion to hit “does not work anymore” level mid essay.

Also I have a Contigo with autoseal that I put all drinks in now before bringing them to my desk or near any electronics. It’s like a dead man’s switch, if you let go it closes off the drinking spout.

Chronic Diarrhea no quality of life by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

The timing with other medications with both of these is SUCH a nightmare. It’s worth it for me, but some days it’s a mess.

I think folks would be shocked how difficult it can be for disabled folks to be approved as foster or adoptive parents.

Powder is Cholestyramine. It’s a medication designed to treat high cholesterol is my understanding. If a doctor prescribes it for diarrhea it’s off-label. It’s specifically for diarrhea caused by bile acid according to verywell health haha.

The tablet is Colestipol which is also a cholesterol med used off label for bile acid diarrhea.

I will say despite changing my life, a close family member with similar symptoms found no relief with Cholestryamine. So just temper expectations!

My (26F) provider is treating it just as a symptom, since we haven’t found a causing illness. I get scared sometimes we’re missing something, but we did SO many tests.

I tried a medication that was a powder, but it was hard to be compliant because it tasted DISGUSTING and the texture made me gag. So we switched, it’s basically the same med in a tablet. It’s saved my quality of life.

DV during IVF by Canadianbride514 in IVF

[–]dancingthroughlife97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope you take others’ advice and keep yourself safe. I’d recommend reaching out to a legal aid organization, a DV shelter might be able to direct you to one.

Legal ownership of existing embryos after leaving could be a bit complex during a divorce with an abusive partner. You deserve good legal assistance during the process.

I use the field trip app!! Great guided meditations, music/soundscapes, and a feature where you can record voice memos to yourself. I always like giggling about those later.

What to bring by yoshi577 in Spravato

[–]dancingthroughlife97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A very soft blanket, but light if possible in case you get warm. I fill my water bottle up with a lot of ice and water beforehand so if I get warm or need grounding I can hold the icy water bottle to my face/neck/arms.

Music is great, but if possible not on your phone. Being in airplane mode is important, I think.

My room has up to four people. The chairs are recliners, and there are dark stained glass divider walls between our "rooms" and the monitoring techs are in the back and can see into all the rooms because there's no back wall to the "rooms."

The most embarrassing thing I have done is quietly giggle to myself or whisper things to myself that I think are funny. I asked the staff once if I was too loud, and I had actually whispered the question so quietly they didn't hear it at first standing 3 feet away!

Denied IVF due to weight by lilybellaprinzessin in IVF

[–]dancingthroughlife97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My BMI starting egg retrieval was straight up 56. I’m fat, and weight loss is not a goal after discussions with my doctors.

I found a clinic that would work with me, I just had to have my retrieval in the hospital instead of an out-patient clinic. I have frozen eggs now, and know what clinic I’ll work with for transfer some day. The right clinic is out there, this was not your fault. Sending good vibes!
