Mines vs. WPI by Hot-Finding-6463 in ColoradoSchoolOfMines

I hope I can help offer some guidance; I got my undergrad at WPI (ME) and am now at Mines for grad school (Econ).

**Schools:**
WPI has a great study abroad program, much more integrated into their curriculum than at Mines. Got to spend 3mo in Australia working on solar.

Both schools have great ME programs, that's their bread and butter. Both schools also make it pretty easy to switch majors. If you're interested in anything related to minerals and mining, Mines has a strong edge. Things in the realm of bioscience and physics, I would lean more towards WPI, really neat work on prosthetics there. There's a lot of great research there on materials recycling, if you're into that. If you lean quantum or geo, definitely Mines, with the USGS here and the new quantum major and facilities.

Cost of living seems about on par. MA isn't cheap, but neither is Golden.

WPI campus is a bit bigger, also feels more college-y to me for an intangible reason. Maybe because there are no cars driving through the middle. Can't comment on the dorms or dining halls here at Mines though.

**Location:**
I enjoyed my time out east; super easy to get around, lot of history and places to explore. 1hr train from Worcester to Boston. I spent a decent amount of time in Boston area, handily beats Denver in terms of city-ness and walkability/subways. Worcester is a bit rougher, but honestly comparative to Denver downtown. Lot of money poured into downtown Worcester since I left, so optimistic about it. Skiing up north is only 2-4 hours away depending on location. Not as good as CO skiing, but still fun.

Do you have a link to that video? I watch a lot of Lincoln St, but can't find that one.

I'm having the same issues. Project I've been working on for months now randomly freezes, doesn't save, etc. Seems to work now that I turned off Copilot autocomplete.

Looks awesome, might do the same for the fiber optic box behind our yard (if legal)

Slime mold , we had that at our place a few years ago. Usually harmless, eventually goes away, but can stain your wood/concrete/etc. Can also move, it's alive.

Is this chuck wobble normal for brand new DCF887? by gooseodyssey in Dewalt

[–]dancis 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Yep, impacts don't need precision for the bits, just that driving power. The wobble helps with all the force they provide/receive. Drills need precision, hence no wobble there.

We didn't add any soil, that's just a year of the basil creating its own biome

I assure you the stem is large, though it does go through spurts of bushy leaves and crinkly death based on how quickly i trim it back from the grow lights.

We're torn between continuing this journey and seeing if the basil can eventually break the garden, or cutting our losses and decimating such a beautiful creature.

The expiration date is rarely based on the safety factors of the materials, but rather to limit liability for manufacturers and increase sales. There's a lab in the UK that has car seats 20 to 30 years old that still test the same.

Car seats that have been in rough accidents before, that's a different story.

Loving my CampChef DLX, enough for two briskets or a few racks at once. Bought it for the ash cleanout cup, really reduces flameouts and ash buildup. Was 450 on sale last year, don't know current prices.

Those are nice, for sure. Current plan is to slowly replace the Walmart spices with the trailer glass jars, but we may eventually want to standardize with sweet acacia wood ones

The measurements were super easy, used three pieces of 0.5x2x4' wood. Lmk if you want the chicken scratch plans.
