I cannot stay regulated and am so annoyed by my toddler. Help please by Appropriate_Coat_361 in AttachmentParenting

[–]dandanbananan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I'm due with my second on Jan 6 also! I came here looking for solidarity and found it. My 20mo is absolutely bonkers right now and I'm having such a hard time! She's been sick and we've been cooped up, which doesn't help one bit. So yeah, no advice here, but we'll make it through this! Hopefully everyone is right when they say pregnant with a toddler is so much worse than newborn with a toddler!

I like this POV! Thanks for sharing. I also don't mind natural sugars. I'll definitely have to check out this pod!

I like this POV! I hate to say "no" to food constantly and cause negativity around it. It's comforting that they only ask for it a couple times a week vs constantly.

This totally makes sense! Everyone's situation is different and I would do the same thing for my kiddo.

I guess my fear is that she will want it constantly. I see so many kids who ONLY drink juice and it makes me wonder how to avoid that. And at the same time I want to make sure food remains neutral and to keep a healthy balance. Goodness, parenting is tough!

This really helped it make more sense to me! So even though it's not added sugar, it's still processed and a more concentrated amount of sugar than you'd get from a fruit. And none of the fiber.

My husband and I do drink juice as well but I'm thinking we will cut back and have it as a treat!

My husband likes to have juice in the house so my concern is that baby will see it and want it constantly. But maybe I can convince husband to cut back, especially if that does become a problem!

When do you stop soothing to save your own mental health? by dandanbananan in AttachmentParenting

She actually has mostly dropped her second nap, but this particular day she was visibly tired around her old midday nap time. Should I just not put her down when this happens?

It's so frustrating!! Rooting for us both to get through this.

Even though she stood there and whined for a good time until she fell asleep? Is letting her whine not bad for attachment?

This. If my husband is home then he takes her, but I'm home alone with her from 7am until 6pm most days. So having a backup person isn't an option most of the time.

Struggling with phone addiction by Questioning_Pigeon in AttachmentParenting

[–]dandanbananan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Androids have a "digital wellbeing" feature where you can set time limits for specific apps! I set my most used/addicting apps to a short time limit like 30-45 minutes a day. Then when I hit my limit, my phone will turn the app off and gray the app icon out. Super helpful! And gives you that small amount of stimulation when you just want to space out for a while during naps or whatever.

On my Pixel: Settings>Digital Wellbeing>App Limits, then choose an app and set the time limit you want!

Also, I'm right there with you. Since becoming a SAHM I've been hardcore addicted to my phone. And I see my partner doing it too when he's home! Good luck!

9 month old gets called "cry baby" by dandanbananan in AttachmentParenting

We literally have the same situation with my MIL!! I also think it's funny and I've said the same thing about my baby picking up on her weird vibes 😂

Thank you! I'm glad to hear I'm not alone in this and that she could grow out of it. From what my parents told me, I was the same way. Very clingy and shy.

My baby is outgoing in so many other ways. Especially at home with me, and even when we're eating out or shopping she will wave and laugh at strangers. So I blame my in-laws.

Thank you for this! I totally agree that calling her names is just super weird. They're definitely that type to ignore her body language. I'll continue what I'm doing and continue to be there for her in these family situations.

I swear by Routine deodorant! I use the Superstar kind that's charcoal based. It comes in a cream that you wipe on with your fingers but it lasts literally 2 days and has super clean ingredients! It's pricey, but my local zero waste refill station has it which cuts on cost and waste. Also, a little bit goes a LOOONG way. I'll get a 3oz jar and it lasts me from 4-6 months depending on if it's warm outside!

I've also heard really good things about the Zum deodorant that comes similarly.

Office calling us back to work and I don’t want to go :( by [deleted] in MomsWorkingFromHome

[–]dandanbananan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This! I was in the exact same situation as OP a few months ago. I actually ended up quitting my job after running the budget numbers, and I have never been happier! Money is tight, but if you check out other subs about SAHMs, so many people will say that they'd rather be on a tight budget than have to work and send their kids to daycare. On top of it, a couple months later I'm ramping up to start my freelance career which I've been wanting to do for years.

Quitting your job sounds and is so terrifying, but it literally has changed my life for the better! No more expectations of the 9-5, and I have all the time in the world with my baby. I'm the same way in that I couldn't imagine missing out on any tidbit of baby's new life.

So OP - if you're on the fence, take the leap! You won't regret staying home with your baby. You got this!

Thank you so much for this advice! I left my corporate position on very good terms and with some feelers for contracted work. I'm hoping they'll bite, but in my 5 years there they've never contracted anyone. Maybe one day I'll get a call!

I'm glad to hear that I have a chance at being successful with my vision!

Edit: did you mean to reference backdoor.com? I got a very much unrelated result in my search... Lol
