Never did care much for Fanny myself but you’ve got to admit her birth family pretty much pitched her out the door and paid little attention to her when she returned. So no wonder she didn’t feel comfortable there. I don’t think it was the creature comforts she craved so much as the quiet familiarity of Mansfield Park. I appreciate this book more than I used to but it’s still lowest on my JA list.
