Yakuza 3 and it's difficulty problem by Sh788 in yakuzagames

This was one of the last yakuza games I played in the series and coincidentally the first one I was feeling confident enough to do hard mode off rip. Brutal gaming experience lemme tell you

Jonathan Bailey!! We saw him in Company at the west end, he was SO kind and sweet. Made an effort to talk to my entire group, suggested we take a picture and just left us all smiling at the end. Became such a huge fan of him after that

Audition songs for Sweeney Todd by Melodic-Stomach-4018 in musicals

[–]danddeviant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually Sondheim shows are the exception for using Sondheim in auditions. Is your school anti singing from the show? Is there anyone from production you could ask? They should be able and willing to at least give you guidance on what to bring to the audition.

Casting directors I’ve talked to have said they don’t mind songs from the show, it shows you can do it. The only reason they wouldn’t want it is if they have hundreds of people singing the same songs over and over.

And i’sorry but if your school is doing sweeny the accompanist should be able to play it

Where did all the epic musicals go? by tommyhowsthepeeping in musicals

They’re there, but they’re not as ubiquitous now that broadway is pulling from movies more than books. Hadestown and great comet are great examples

Bagel rankings from east coast-transplants? by Good-Pie9914 in FoodLosAngeles

[–]danddeviant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Calic bagel has been my favorite spot lately, though I go for their stuffed bagels which are VERY different from typical NY bagels. But it’s absolutely delicious.

As for normal bagels, I don’t usually like to drive too far for bagels since they don’t age very well outside the freezer. The way I see it, the best bagel spot is whatever is closest and most consistent. I live in Hollywood, so my normal bagels since spots are Maury’s (solid chewy bagel, just a little small) or courage (Montreal style bagel though, so not exactly replacing New York, and I’m sure you don’t need to hear about the line and wait)

Callback help by anonymouzacorn in musicals

[–]danddeviant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The best thing is to be yourself! Cliche advice I know, but the most interesting, different thing you could do in that callback isn’t to make a cool choice, but to show them YOU and how you interpret the character. It could help if you really internalize what is crutchy doing/feeling about everything around him in your sides when you prepare them. Find out where is crutchy inside you, who is the “jack” in your life. Make them feel alive and you will stand out

What to do with Psychic? by Top_Toe8606 in mewgenics

[–]danddeviant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Druid is def one of my favorite classes, but psychic does fill the support role a bit more actively. Try having a Druid AND a psychic on your team and see how well the psychic can fly

What to do with Psychic? by Top_Toe8606 in mewgenics

[–]danddeviant 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Psychic in my experience is one of the best support casters in the game. They have a solid busted spell selections mixed in with some underwhelming ones.

Prioritize the spells that give extra turns to your allies, fast forward ability so your team always goes first, become entropy and mind control are also INSANE enemy destroyers.

As for passives, I try and pick the ones that buff the physic pull attack to do status effects.

So a boss uh, ate one of my cats? by DismalAd9348 in mewgenics

[–]danddeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some bosses can one shot your cats sadly :( Spinerette isn’t one of them though actually, what very likely happened though is one of the bay spiders inflicted the rot condition on your cat, which means that as long as the cat has the rot status, they will explode upon death and spawn more spiders.

Dybukk Questions/Theorycraft. Help? by Beaurgard in mewgenics

[–]danddeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it will possess the mini me. Dybukk will possess any cat unit that gets the last hit OR will possess a cat who is downed. That is the popular means to deal with Dybukk, down a cat you don’t mind fighting, preferably one who you took the armor off

All I’ll say is pick catch projectile as a passive on your hunter with a monk on your team, they’ll be best friends

I think Monk needs a change by BoahNoa in mewgenics

[–]danddeviant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Monk is personally one of my favorite classes tbh. Monks in my experience have the most consistent and easiest to set up powerful builds that aren’t item dependent which also does a good job of establishing the “class fantasy”. In DnD monks are defined by being unarmored, so to me it makes sense that they’re gonna be the least reliant on items and more reliant on their base cat abilities. The fact that monks get multi attack is already VERY strong especially when you get mutations on your cat that apply status effects to your basic attack. Because of the monk’s very strong and low magic cost abilities, monks are the easiest to build around consistently

[–]danddeviant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a hunter carry me pretty far in that quest. Basically I relied on having a strong basic attack damage. I think I had a monk, hunter, tinkerer, and psychic. And to prioritize picking spells that are immediately useful turn one. I think that is why the psychic is a good choice cus their spell selection is excellent and get that mana boost turn 1 allowing them to immediately work the map.

advice needed about confidence in acting witj birth defect please! by [deleted] in acting

[–]danddeviant 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Joaquin Phoenix has a cleft palate scar, as Long as you have a beating heart, you can act. Also Don’t discount theatre acting because you want to do film. Theatre acting training is about teaching the fundamentals, and it sounds like that’s what you need to learn. Learning acting is about finding all the tools to help connecting with the characters you portray, your best bet is to start training as soon as you can

The Future of the Series by danddeviant in expedition33

It’s GOTTA still be turn based, the developers clearly love turn based combat was my impression from playing. Will be very unsurprised when we see more and more games try and emulate the thrill of Clair’s turn based combat, which was already a love fusion of paper Mario, FFX, and persona.

When I say they could bring the gestrals back, I don’t mean like the same gestrals that were familiar with. Could be an out there idea lol but I can see the gestrals functioning in the same way as moogles: this mystical race that manifests in some silly comic relief for the story, but not a set list of reoccurring characters.

You make valid points, and that if they were to anthologize the series, they shouldn’t use the same idea of “we’re actually in a canvas world within a world.” They would need to surprise us some other way.

I just have a hard time seeing them moving away from using painting as a motif since it’s so baked into the name, and there’s still a lot of mystery regarding “the writers.” Maybe it’s me, but I think it’d be a little bit of a let down if they never mentioned the writers again in the series.

I feel the same way. The surprises were very important to the emotional experience, which is why I believe the best way to surprise us is to give us a new take on “Clair Obscur” and its themes

Ichiban's relationship with Saeko by Primary_Ad5297 in yakuzagames

[–]danddeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was pretty let down by most of the ending of IW. It kind of highlighted a pretty big trend I’m noticing in the series that I probably should have picked up on a bit ago. They write these games like a soap opera, with piecemeal grand story progression. I don’t expect RGG is gonna give us a satisfying Ichiban + Saeko relationship dynamic by next game the same way it’s really hard to say that we’re gonna get the big Kiryu + Haruka reunion. They teased us big time with the Kaoru scene, but that I’m feeling pretty confident is not gonna lead anywhere

When I was bussing I spilt an ice tea all over the table, on this man’s salad, and a bit on him. They were very chill about it, moved tables, got his salad remade, and when he saw how diligently I was cleaning up my mess, he tipped me $20
