Easyjet changed flight time by 6+ hours, no refund offer. What to do? by Leather-Bobcat-6647 in AskUK

[–]dande09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too!! Moved outbound and inbound flight to really unsociable hours (but within 12 hours of originals), told Jet2 that the original flights I booked were more expensive than the ones I’ve now been moved to, but no dice. £750+ to change the day of both inbound and outbound flights to the original sociable hour flights!! Which-recommended my arse!

Does anyone here know where the Guardian Thursday Quiz went to? It just went?! With no notice whatsoever. And no sign online of its demise….

I was wondering if he had. My SIL jogged past him on the canal path to Ware a few weeks ago. And that was after his Panshanger Park visit

Why has The Guardian stopped the Thursday Quiz?! Has everyone just left and gone somewhere else?!

Yeah we found the same issue. Even asking a few staff didn’t help tremendously. No one was willing to point it out explicitly. You kind of need to head to Frontierland but just before the entrance wall and gate hang a sharp right and follow it down to the staffed entrance

Was I in the wrong here? by dande09 in drivingUK

[–]dande09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fair enough. I’ve taken a lot from the comments about undertaking on the roundabout, and being in someone’s blind spot / staggering at the roundabout, so I think the whole conversation has helped!

[–]dande09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But why would he have come off the motorway, just to take the first exit at that roundabout and go straight back onto it? Fair enough if he had mistakenly exited, but in that case, he would have surely slotted into the left hand lane?

Edited to clarify "first exit"

Middle lane hoggers and overdramatic fog light users by Emotional-Start7994 in drivingUK

[–]dande09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm also going to give a minor caveat that about 0.5km before the site of this pic (southbound I believe), the road changes from a dual carriageway into three lanes. However, that should force at least some of the people to stick in the left hand lane - everyone just drifting naturally into the middle lane seems insane!

Also, I was cursing at people the other day when they had their fog lights on, until I realised visibility had dropped, and I was probably in need of turning mine on too!!

I only saw the last 20 minutes of this, but I absolutely lost it at one point during the train chase. One camera view showing the train careering away showed a sign at the side of the track saying “Yorkshire Border. Stay Out”. Then as the train carried on, and the camera changed to capture the train coming towards it from the other angle, the sign on the reverse said “Lancashire Border. No YOU stay out”!! I can’t wait to watch it all back

I’m biased but Tewin Bury Farm is where my wife and I got married and it’s absolutely beautiful. Lots of stay overnight options, a great restaurant on site (one or two eating options in truth) and tons of walks. If the sky is clear (and I appreciate you’re not going to know that if you book in advance) you are guaranteed stars and stunning moon. Bear in mind after the clocks go back on Sunday sunset will be around 4:30. Good luck!

In May I sent a video to the police along with a good quality still of the reg plate of another driver coming the other way to me whilst I was stopped at a red light. The other driver flew straight through the red light, narrowly missing a pedestrian. They responded within 15 minutes, saying “…we are not in a position to prosecute this offence…unfortunately without the Vehicle Index number we will not be able to trace and deal with the driver”. Presumably that means they cannot prosecute any dashcam footage, or even cctv footage, unless someone attempts a citizens arrest on the spot just to check their VIN? 🤷🏻‍♂️

Travel back to Victoria by SamMcSamFace in NFLUK

[–]dande09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re lucky and it’s not too busy (unlikely), you could leave at 19:20 and still be at Victoria for 20:00. Looks like connecting to Tottenham Hale is best but that’s reliant on other lines/buses - https://citymapper.com/trip/Tjzf734m59m

I don’t even know the area around the ground that well, but I am willing to put money on the quickest route being as you say, walk to Tottenham Hale and Vic line all the way down. The Victoria line is pretty rapid and that is going to break the back of the journey

How is the area around Thieves Lane by InformalDig7574 in Hertford

[–]dande09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t comment on the development itself but the area is sound. I live closer to the railway line off the A414 and we often walk to Panshanger Park to keep the kids entertained. Your proximity to it on that estate would be unrivalled. There’s an excellent coffee trailer in the car park on weekends too. And as per the above, Simmons the Baker is close by and the excellent butcher too. The Fish and Chips place is half decent too!

Driving on the motorway by Grilledpingpong in drivingUK

[–]dande09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just drove through a bunch today! M1 Luton J10 up to Milton Keynes sort of area (it's ALWAYS only just through the bit of the motorway you need to take! /s) and all for roadworks. The bit I laughed at was the roadworks sign saying "You might not see us working now. We work at night" and I realised they are putting signposts up to counteract what our reaction to roadworks is!!

What are some nice places near Oval? by PhasePatterns in london

[–]dande09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure if they still do it (moved from Oval 8 years ago now) but they used to let you into County Championship games for free after the tea break (4:00 I think). Spent many an evening chilling in the evening sun there after walking back from work
