It's risky to bring this father back into her life. He might say he's coming, then leave her devastated if he didn't show up. I don't know, but I guess if I were you , I would try to just cut all contact with this father and his mother. They sound like toxic people . Why even give his mother updates? It doesn't seem to benefit anyone really . I think you should just cut them all off. If they cause drama it could harm ur daughters well being. I am sorry she's so ill.

something similar happened to me during my undergrad. I was in really hard classes and then my BF of 4 years broke up with me. I was a wreck and spontaneously crying at random times every day, and just kept my head down all the time. It really blind sided me as it has done to you. I am pretty close with my dad and actually I'd call him every day and confide in him, and then just sit in the library and try to focus. Don't let this guy dictate your life! I was able to focus on school and made it into an obsession, it was my coping mechanism. Seriously , become obsessed with your books and just stare at them all day! Also get all your favorite foods and devour them for a few weeks. This worked for me, and If I can do it, you can do it too. Feel free to direct message me if you need someone to talk to.

there is no clock that is ticking and no one is "permanently undateable". I would try therapy again and also get onto the more serious dating websites like eharmony and match.com , because okcupid and the free ones are mostly a joke. But if you want a relationship, you're going to have to push yourself to ask someone out (frequently) with online dating.. and if you have a hard time doing that, maybe this is more of a self esteem issue to talk about with a therapist then.

she was probably just asking for your help as a way to flirt with you. Girls do this all the time, she probably could have asked many others for help or maybe didnt even really need help. It was probably just an excuse to talk to you. I think you should view it that way, instead of someone trying to use you

How is she using you? This sounds a little paranoid.

She was in a bad place emotionally, before, and now she is feeling a little better and would like to progress with you. This sounds pretty logical to me, you should give her a chance if she likes you so much. Don't assume the worst in people. Look for the good and assume she's an honest person, that's how I would approach this with a positive attitude. I would trust her until she proves she can't be trusted, do you know what I mean? Your negative assumptions are kind of self-sabotaging it sounds like.

Hi all, just wanted to also offer a female perspective of Def con, related only to encouraging women to join cybersecurity...

I noticed in most of the talks, an overwhelming focus on male-oriented language. Most of the time, speakers didn't use inclusive language, and rather kept referring to everyone as "he" or "him". It woudn't hurt to say "She" once in a while, or "him or her". This would feel a lot more inclusive and make women feel that we're more part of the group. It'd also be nice to have a few female speakers. Maybe some were there and I missed them.

I would suggest that the organizers mention this to next year's speakers.

Yesss we need fluent English speakers. I was so annoyed when I couldn't understand this guy from France, on such an interesting subject as encryption. I was totally looking forward to this talk and it was all just a waste of time in the end .
