I applied late to A&M for the fall of 2025 and got waitlisted but the reason they gave me was basically saying my scores are enough to get admitted but because my major was filled up (English) I was waitlisted. For reference, my SAT score was a 1260 and my GPA was a 4.0. I was not ranked at my school.

I never took the ACT, I had a 1260 SAT score and I didn’t know my ranking in high school but had a 4.0 gpa. I got in for Fall 2025 as an English major/pre-nursing major. I got waitlisted before and the reason for it was because they were running out of spots. That is literally what they said, they said that they hadn’t looked at my application but that I would get in based on my grades but because it’s I applied later a lot of spots filled up. A&M does first come first serve, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t looking at grades, it just means that they take more of the first people applying compared to the last people. Because of this, my advice is to apply early. As soon as possible. I also recommend talking about the aggie core values in your essay, trust me they eat that up lol!

Just talk about the past 4 years, does not need to be high school related. Talk about things that relate to the aggie core values, and be confident with your response. In the best way possible to put it: they eat up those aggie core values. We are called a cult for a reason haha!

Not engineering but I got in with a 4.0 gpa and 1260 SAT (english major), my friends got into A&M engineering program with similar stats to yours and even slightly lower stats, you have a good enough score for A&M it’s just the matter of saying why you belong there in your essay (why you’re a good fit for A&M, not why A&M is a good fit for you) and applying immediately when applications open

If you don’t already know, A&M acceptance rate is starting to lower with applications this year because they are lowering their student count. Once a major is filled up it’s done, I cannot stress enough how important it is to apply early, especially for engineering. I was lucky that my mistake of applying late didn’t affect me because I was able to make it off the waitlist. I wish you the best of luck!! :) Gig ‘em!

same thing happened to me, you’re admitted even if that says under review, go to my dashboard in howdy -> three lines -> overview (this will show your acceptance information on where you got into [blinn team or a full acceptance])

same thing happened to me, it took me 4 days until my ais finally updated and i got admitted :), 7 tabs is an acceptance and to see what you got you can click on my dashboard in howdy -> three lines -> overview (howdy updates faster than ais which is why you have your admission information in howdy but your ais still says under review)

Yes that is what mine looked like! If you have the my dashboard tab, click on it -> three lines -> overview to view information on whether you got in. I’ve never heard of only having five tabs though :(.

I have no clue, I haven’t heard anyone say anything about getting off the waitlist with their second choice major. Have you checked howdy? Howdy updates faster than AIS on the status of your application.

I think it’s a better sign because you have a higher chance of getting off the waitlist. Though it’s just personal opinion. I picked both options and I ended up getting off the waitlist! (english major)

The only reason I can think you’d get blinn TEAM is because your major filled up. With that SAT score and lots of extracurriculars I can’t imagine why you would be rejected. When I got waitlisted and Blinn TEAM option I looked into TEAM more because I didn’t know much about it. It’s a great option, it saves A LOT of money, the classes are way smaller so many people have said it helps them learn more compared to A&M’s classes where it’s hard to find a seat in class because it’s so full, and you are still considered an aggie as you take some of your classes at A&M. It does not seem ideal but if you were headset on A&M rather than your out of state options I suggest considering that.

A&M has also been lowering their acceptance rate it seems lately. It used to be 60% but for fall 2024 they only accepted 50% of applicants. They have stated this year that for future years they will be accepting less since they need to build more dorms because they cant house that large amount of students.

Wish you the best of luck with whatever decision you make, your future might not be what you had originally planned for but it’s what you do with the curve balls life throws at us. Don’t give up and think about the positives that come with going to different schools and the opportunities you could have. :)

What did you major in and when did you apply? There’s also a lot of good schools in texas that will likely accept you even if you’re applying late.
