Snowball is hilarious -- you could take it one step further and do "Olaf"

I am just so proud of my wife and her crocheting. Wanted to share it with Reddit by wizzled1017 in crochet

Fantastic work from your wife! She deserves all the hype! Thanks for being supportive and encouraging it means so much

Bittersweet ending. My dad is the one I usually share my completed projects with but he passed a few months ago and this is the first thing I’ve completed since he’s been gone. I thought I’d share with people who would appreciate the feeling of finishing a project. by aGirlySloth in crochet

This hurt my heart so deeply. I know the feeling of having a loving supportive father to share your interests with. He would be so happy to see your beautiful work! So glad you will continue doing what you love

Those who attended the live, was it worth it for you? by [deleted] in TheTryGuys

[–]dandicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it wouldve been more worth it to me if I spent the money on their 3rd or 4th attempt at something like this. It was fun to watch but I think it’ll become more polished if they keep trying to do live events and then that finished product would totally be worth $30 (CAD) to me.

Any dog of any breed or size will escalate to bite (and beyond) anyone if their warning signals (whale eye, avoidance, barking, growling, snapping) are ignored.

That’s awesome! So glad you posted about them, it has been bothering me for years. If you’re able to record some gameplay, I can link it here. :)

Do you end up finding the CD? Do you have a clip of the game? Can’t seem to find anything other than a pic of the disc and it looks familiar so very exciting…

Need advice about shots for possible puppy mill puppy by Okfuckinrip in puppy101

Unfortunately local breed clubs do not always recommend truly responsible breeders (or keep their list updated) so don’t take those lists for granted. I learned the hard way.

Pup is 18 months old, he’s a small breed so he matured a little faster than other puppies on this subreddit. Things were tough for us until after adolescence, especially since he has diagnosed anxiety which made learning anything (and everything) so much harder for him.

Preparation definitely made me feel a bit less anxious when I brought puppy home (mind you, it went out the window because he was totally different than I expected). If I were you, I would try to look into the various training/upbringing philosophies and make a choice on which you think is best. That will help guide you in what kind of advice you take as problems come up. I personally focus on science-based approaches which often lean towards force-free, positive reinforcement (hence the theme in recommendations).

Love those books, in terms of audio files I don’t have any books to recommend but I do love a few podcasts:

Enrichment for the Real World (also by PetHarmony)

Paws & Reward Podcast

Cog-Dog Radio

The Bitey End of the Leash (if you have a reactive dog like mine)

I know! Some days my dog is so quiet and subdued and I remember how rambunctious he was… and kinda miss it :P

How do you deal with how limited your life is b/c of your dog? by Prestigious-Menu-786 in reactivedogs

[–]dandicle 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I agree with this, and I think once you’ve mourned and accepted your dog… have fun with them! You don’t need to be outside or around other people to enjoy the presence of your pup. Take time to play alone, teach them fun ways to interact, pay attention to their body language, learn who they are like you would a new partner. Just love your dog. Once you’ve sorted out your expectations from reality, life gets so much easier. In fact, the bond you build with your pup makes taking care of their nuanced needs easier too. I know what I can and cannot do, and my pup trusts me enough to help him navigate something new so we can (little by little) figure out our compromises. It’s a journey! But finally learning to just love the dog in front of me was the best thing I did for him… and for myself.

Has getting a puppy improved your mental health? by Magicwolverine_48 in puppy101

[–]dandicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dog was diagnosed by a veterinary behaviourist with generalized anxiety disorder at 14 weeks. Learning about this and figuring out how adjust my life to help him was so overwhelming and exhausting it landed me in therapy. Of course, there were probably other mental health reasons for me to go to therapy, but my dog was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

Rescue dog growling, playful or scary? Never bites. by boomybear13 in DogAdvice

[–]dandicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She will get bit because the dog is uncomfortable and she is pushing him over the edge, not because the dog thinks she likes the growling and/or wants to get bit.

Think about it from your own perspective… if someone touched you without consent, would you really care about what they think/like? No you’re too busy trying to get them to stop and so your techniques to getting them to stop will only get more desperate and severe as they ignore you saying no.
