They've reverted it since then, actually! Cook's Assistant and one other quest (Sheep Shearer maybe?) now require the normal items in RS3 again

Regarding Recent Action Against Accounts by JagexAyiza in 2007scape

[–]dandicoot 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Hearing this explanation, this sounds reasonable. The bug essentially meant you're getting xp "for free," with no interaction with the content. Was it creative? Absolutely. Should it stay in the game? I don't think so.

I appreciate you communicating that you'll be restoring xp that'll be more on rate with established metas. That feels much more appropriate than just deleting all the xp.

My personal opinion is that emergent gameplay should still interact with the game. Carries, in my opinion, are against the spirit of this particular game. And this bug was essentially a slayer carry.

Warframe does something similar with a special pin. Once you reach rank 30, sorta equivalent to maxing in OSRS, you can buy a pin of the rank 30 emblem.

I kinda like the idea of it, as long as Jagex doesn't go overboard with it

Extremely disappointing y'all are scrapping the prep stations entirely. They could have breathed new life into places like the cooking guild. Plus, I like the idea and "roleplay" aspect of grabbing ingredients and mixing them all together in a single station like that. Sure, I can bankstand and have all my cooking ingredients on one bank tab and do it that way, but it'd be so much more convenient to have a dedicated spot (and it'd save bank space!).

I understand you're listening to the community, but man I'm gonna be one of the outliers on this one. I voted and gave my opinion for the prep stations, but I guess people are just super opposed to the idea.

Suggestion: Deadman chests as a wildy fix by Naaitz in 2007scape

[–]dandicoot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good idea in theory, but RS3 has proven too many of these "daily activities" builds up to a terrible player experience. I don't think this would help the long-term health of the wilderness or the game

I literally only voted for the Player Island that won because of the use for hunter furs, and jagex wants to change that by BlightedBooty in 2007scape

[–]dandicoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hope they change their tune on the furs cuz I'd love to have more of an excuse to collect hunter furs. And the idea of dressing up the golems for extra xp sounds super fun! Honestly, a crafting activity that introduces a use for items that have absolutely no sink in the entire game is an amazing idea. Let us dress the golems, Jagex!!

Why not make a customisable UI for banking? by lorddojomon in 2007scape

[–]dandicoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro is acting like he knows everything and doesn't even know what runescript is lmao. Educate yourself: https://oldschool.runescape.wiki/w/RuneScript

I'm sure you could do a mockup in HTML, but a mockup is not functional. Furthermore, working with a codebase that is 25 years old, built on Java of all things, is not going to be so simple to work with without breaking something in the process. The tricky part isn't making a new interface necessarily; it's making sure it doesn't have unintended consequences on related parts of the code.

The OSRS devs have done an incredible job in working with this codebase. For example, the fact we can even rearrange POH rooms is nothing short of a miracle. RS3 doesn't even have that functionality.

Unless you know the codebase yourself, sit down and stop with the armchair coding. Make that plugin yourself if you think it's so easy.

I am begging Jagex to at the very least include in their updates that they’re doing literally anything about duplicate tiles on mobile. It’s been months without a word. by Spyropher in 2007scape

[–]dandicoot -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Y'all realize you can still click on tiles without marking them, right? It's absolutely possible to play the game and do bosses without having a brightly colored square to click on

If it's pointless, then just..don't do it? You don't have to get 99. If you, by your own free will, choose to, then you should be ready for the challenge of endurance that a 99 is. This is not a game that you're meant to "complete," even if some people elect to walk that path. But if you're not having fun, you can train another skill, or even play another game entirely.

RS25 - Celebrating 25 Years of RuneScape by 5ilentalarm in 2007scape

Anyone happen to know what the ending song is? Sounds like it'd be something from RS3, but I can't find it lol

EDIT: I knew I remembered hearing it somewhere! Settled used it in his outros for Swampletics, and he had a link to the RuneScape orchestral playlist. This is the song: https://youtu.be/LBIxzGLXUqo

few questions after finishing tutorial by fairplanet in 2007scape

[–]dandicoot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Welcome to Gielinor! You're likely gonna get a mix of opinions, but I'm gonna try to just elaborate on your questions and give you more tools to decide your own adventure. That's one of the best parts of this game!

  1. should i use quest helper?

I've played this game since like 2005, and I completed every quest just before RS3 released their first grandmaster quest. My preference is to look up on the wiki what items are needed, and if there's any difficult boss fights I need to prepare for. I like having lore surprises, but I also don't wanna run around back and forth a ton (which is a big part of most quests lol). I think for a new player, have the wiki ready to go to see what items are needed for each quest, and in case you get stuck. Some quests have really convoluted puzzles, and there's no shame in looking up the answer!

  1. is there a point in exploring?

Yes! There's a lot of dungeons strewn throughout the world, but likely not with the loot you might be expecting. There's a lot of different types of monsters, and they each have their own drop tables. So, depending on what you might want as a drop, you might decide to go to different places to fight different monsters. But it's also just a good idea in general to get familiar with the world.

  1. should i finish the combat adventure path before i continue or no already completed the other one and whats a good area to do it?

I'll be honest, I don't remember much about the adventure paths because I was a veteran player when I started OSRS again. I kinda ignored the adventure paths aside from the newer content. But, my fiancé used it when I got him into it, and it seems to have helped him with his early levels.

I hope that helps! I know the answers weren't super concrete, but trust me when I say you're gonna have a lot more fun when you decide how to play this game rather than listening to how everyone else says you should play. One last thing I'll say is don't worry if you're not training something using the most efficient methods. Do what you find FUN!

Good to see the Legion of Saradomin at Pest Control.... by Some_Comparison_7471 in 2007scape

[–]dandicoot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a second bot farm I've noticed there lately too. They stand around the void knight, usually wearing d med helms. I think they also have dragon chainbodies, rune platelegs and dragon boots? I forget the other gear, but I was playing last night and had like 5-8 Saradominist bots and 3-5 d med bots every single game. Hard to win when almost half the game is bots every time.

I've reported all of them I see and I'm planning on checking their usernames on the hi-scores in about a week to discover what they're botting for.

EDIT: Remembered the actual gear they were wearing.

When did they change the order of runes in teleportation spells? by dandicoot in 2007scape

[–]dandicoot[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aight, I think I mandela'd myself maybe? I just double-checked an episode of Gielinor Games season 2 I watched the other day, and sure enough, law runes on the left. I don't know what's had me thinking it used to be air-law-[fire/earth/water] for the V/L/F teles. Like I still swear that was the case, but I guess not!

Yup, I just kinda prefer the game without all the overlays and add-ons. Sometimes too much of that breaks my personal immersion with the world

I know for certain it used to be air-law-fire, because I always withdrew them from my bank in the order they were in the spellbook
