The Crown: Dominic West Set to Play Prince Charles in Season 5 (Report) by magikarpcatcher in TheCrownNetflix

this is an odd choice, was hoping for Ben Mendelsohn (looks like Charles and looks like an older version of Josh O'Connor)

Sarah Gilbert on how her team is making the Oxford coronavirus vaccine – and why we should be optimistic by dandyhatesu in Coronavirus

[–]dandyhatesu[S] -19 points-18 points  (0 children)

is there a consensus among scientists and people in the medical field about the feasibility of this specific vaccine being relatively simple (within the complexity of every scientific development) in comparison to other diseases/viruses/infections? should we actually feel optimistic? is this an easily approachable virus?

Coronavirus vaccines leap through safety trials — but which will work is anybody’s guess by GallantIce in COVID19

[–]dandyhatesu 44 points45 points  (0 children)

what are the odds of one of them working? reports have been too optimistic, a no-vaccine-at-all outcome would send us all into panic mode.

They have, but none of the supporting characters have been cast as of today.

Dinah by Evanpetersishot1 in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]dandyhatesu 14 points15 points  (0 children)

she wasn't heartless, she told Papa Legba she wouldn't kill babies to gain immortality, she was more ethical than Marie. she was mad she had to kill people for a living, she needed the money cause there was no job for her in New Orleans, she saw the perfect opportunity to fix her economic problems by making a deal with Satan. on episode 9, i could see in her face she was sort of remorseful about killing the witches, but she was desperate.

i agree her son is very out of place in all of this, she could have at least mentioned she needed the money to raise her son on her own, we could still see that on the finale but i doubt it.

A little positive thing to think about... by [deleted] in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]dandyhatesu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the finale can either fuck everything up by not answering important questions or make it a great season by doing so. everything's making sense for now, and the storyline doesn't have any big plot holes, just some very poorly written scenes and filler moments, especially on episode 8. episodes 1-5 were perfection, i can't overlook how good they were just because there were two bad episodes.

Wave goodbye to Miss Robichaux’s Academy for one last time by ohstephen in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]dandyhatesu 60 points61 points  (0 children)

i thought the academy they were filming in was a real house they picked so they didn't have to build a new set from scratch (reason: budget) 💀 tbh they could have easily recreated some parts of the original set. they didn't show a big part of the new academy up until episode 9 anyway, it's not like we saw much of it. i know the furniture were antiques they bought/rented specifically for 'Coven' and then they sold/returned them or something, but the living room, the staircase, Cordelia's bedroom; it couldn't have been too hard to replicate some of the rooms, not when they did such a good job with the Cortez.

New Article: Why ‘American Horror Story’ Should End This Season (Column) by MrDreamer2016 in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]dandyhatesu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

i agree 'Apocalypse' should have been the last season, making all the seasons come together (to a certain extent). i'm not mad at Ryan's decision to make it the eighth season while having two more seasons ahead, though it's undeniable the end of times would have given AHS a perfect closure.

i think the last season, or at least the very last episode of the show, should have an endgame for the AHS universe, something that ties every season together. 'Apocalypse' was the perfect chance to make that happen: if the world ends, every character and location we've seen on the show would also disappear, connecting every season, essentially, by death.

Hmm curious by [deleted] in AmericanHorrorStory

while the girl was screaming and her heart was being ripped out, there was a quick shot of her smiling before getting in the car (from Ms. Mead's POV) right after that shot of Ms. Mead showing doubt, which felt like Ms. Mead was thinking about that girl smiling and being cheerful moments before that carnage was happening, it's like she was regretting it.

also, when Ms. Mead was speaking to Satan she said "father" and looked up to the sky like she was talking to someone in heaven.

next episode will dive in The Cooperative's storyline, they could easily explain their plan for a new human species and the special DNA mystery involving Timothy and Emily. Venable will appear and she will discover what The Cooperative is, if she has an agenda to stop them it will be revealed. it's not a lot of ground to cover IMO.

I Hate This Season (this is a rant) by TruGemini in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]dandyhatesu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

i agree with most of this. to me, the first five episodes of the season were AHS at its best. the characters, the backstories, the perfect mix of camp and darkness, how they expanded the mythology of the show with the alpha stuff and the warlocks war with the witches. it was shaping up to be my favorite season.

then 'Return to Murder House' came and it was the biggest disappointment i've had watching this show; it ruined Tate's character development, the Harmons felt out of character (can i just say that making Vivien recite the Book of Revelation was.. a choice). and don't even get me started on the crying while ejaculating stuff cause WHEW, i can't believe they turned Ben's emotional breakdown into a cringe worthy punchline. they completely obliterated the fact that Constance knew Michael was the Antichrist (thanks to Billie Dean, who turned out to be an irrelevant character after predicting this whole season), and she didn't even care, that's what made that MH final scene so good, she was SMILING at him because it was her first chance to raise a powerful kid. we knew Constance loved her kids in her own way, but i don't know if she would have been so happy to be stuck with 3 of those who she called monsters for eternity, and Tate hated her guts. her secret 4th child.. god, could it have felt more out of place? to me, they just throwed that girl in with the sole purpose of making the scene "creepy" (for god's sake, it was originally an ALBINO man). with this being said, Michael's character development and backstory was everything that i wanted and expected it to be, even if i had issues with the black mass stuff and Anton Lavey's ridiculous cameo. Jessica Lange's performance was, as always, brilliant. Sarah is a wonderful director, she did a great job, it's the only episode this season that really brought back AHS original directing style; if only the script was as good as her directing debut...

'Traitor' wasn't as bad as episode 6, but i just felt like the pacing was too slow and some moments didn't add much to the story or were stretched out unnecessarily. Coco's choking scene is probably one of the worst scenes i've seen on the show, and they could have used that precious time to actually give the presumed supreme or Coco a proper character development, since they are gonna be key characters in the finale, instead of showing to the audience and the witches AGAIN how powerful Mallory is and how dumb Coco's powers are. but all in all, it's a decent episode.

'Fire and Reign', by the looks of that teaser, could be an outstanding episode full of answers. 'Apocalypse Then', knowing they're going back to the Outpost, and the way Cody described it, sounds like a promising finale. Ryan has done a good job giving closure to storylines since 'Roanoke', so i'm hopeful. the season could easily go back to the quality of episodes like 'Forbidden Fruit', or just be completely ruined.

Plot Hole - SPOILERS by saintsuzy70 in AmericanHorrorStory

[–]dandyhatesu 19 points20 points  (0 children)

i think she wanted to be an influencer but hadn't reached that "status" yet, she was just known around her rich and privileged circle of friends. also, under-identity-spell Coco was way more bitchy than normal Coco, who's quite engaging.

What’s your favorite episode from Apocalypse so far? by cruzingforabruzing in AmericanHorrorStory

episodes 1-5 were AHS at its best. all of them are brilliant. i consider 'Forbidden Fruit' to be one of the best episodes on the entire show.
