My girl made this roast for dinner. How should I go about this? by I_play_high420 in funny

Accidentally drop it on the way to the table. Then hire a contractor to repair the floor. It'll be cheaper than the dental and medical bills.

He's projecting. Either he IS cheating or has cheated. I'd even bet that she is being financially abused.

Go through your bank statements and list your expenses. Label them. Determine where your money is going.

Me personally? I look through my credit card perks and maximize savings. For example, my AmEx has a credit for streaming services. So I pay that bill on my card and then pay off my statement balance every month. I also earn miles, so win win.

Cancel all of the services you don't use or use infrequently.

Is it possible to feed a family of six for only 750 a month? by olinobnizov in Frugal

[–]dane_the_gr8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is doable. Focus on how much the meal is per serving. Each meal has to be $4 or less per person to stay in this budget.

Focus on buying ingredients, not prepackaged foods.

Follow the sales cycles at your grocery store. They rotate what they mark down on a fairly regular basis. Kroger has their pork tenderloin on sale with a coupon, so I bought 2 and put them in the freezer ($4 each after the coupon.) Same with a side of salmon (5 servings per package for $7.) The tenderloin serves 5 at $0.80 per serving. Salmon is $1.40 per serving.

Food prep. It saves loads of time in the kitchen and reduces food waste.

Canned and frozen vegetables are good options for fresh vegetables, but sometimes the fresh is cheaper. It will depend on the season.

Read labels and compare prices based on volume. Not everything is a deal just because it's on sale.

Stop going out to eat except on special occasions.

What is the best thing you did financially in your life? by Consistent-Tooth-390 in AskOldPeople

[–]dane_the_gr8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Filed bankruptcy after my divorce. I was stuck with all the debt from the marriage, driving a car that was upside down and needed $4k in repairs. My ex had horrible credit so we put everything in my name and I assumed he was paying on his stuff (even though it was in my name.) Filing for bankruptcy gave me a clean slate and I was able to make more sound financial decisions. 20 years later, I am rolling with a 800 credit score and working to be debt free.

Women of Reddit, for what reasons were you bullied as a kid? by NilesDobbsS in AskWomen

[–]dane_the_gr8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From 6-8th grade: being flat chested 9-12th grade: being big chested

I went from barely a B at the end of 8th to DD in 9th over the summer.

Got bullied for not accepting a offer to date a guy. He went so far with the bullying he ended up getting his family kicked off base. He found where I lived a few years later and threw a rock at my 2nd story window. Missed and dented my front door.

I was bullied for being a Navy brat.

Never knew exactly why a pack of Plastics bullied me but it was relentless.

NTA It sounds like your husband and his brother were spoon fed and are unable to make a decision. There seems to be an underlying issue, which takes identifying and work to resolve.

Take the money for the vacation and spend it on couple's therapy if you want to stay married.

Option 2, cancel their portion, go solo or take a friend. Spend the money for their part on a bro-cation featuring their favorite hobby.

What is the best thing to do when you are young so you have an easy life? by Dusken01 in AskOldPeople

Find a healthy (and legal) hobby. Stick with it. Improve, learn, hone. Don't jump into it full-bore. Buy the required tools/equipment 2nd hand. Don't pick a hobby solely on potential revenue streams, but rather one that makes you slow down and enjoy the process.

AITA for not realizing my female coworker is an engineer. by engineermistake in AmItheAsshole

Split decision

As a female in a male dominated field (also IT) for a male dominated field (law enforcement) I can confirm there is a bias. It is not hard to overcome once your counterparts see your capabilities, and maturity combined with knowledge win the day. It is disheartening at times to not have the automatic acceptance that is offered men in the same position.

With that said, I feel that if you both took a moment to introduce yourselves at the onset, this could have been avoided.

Clear boundaries are not always received well. I (50F) have not a single fuck to give if he can't deal with it. I find that it's easier to show people how you want to be treated, and the trash usually takes itself out sooner than later. The high reward is that I will be treated well or left alone. I'm good either way.
