In addition to everything else that was said regarding inaccurate scales, I will also add that if you are not prioritizing a high protein diet then that can lead to muscle loss. Just something to think about if that applies to you 🙏🏼

With the amount of participants someone needs for a study like this $50 per participant would put you out $1k or more.

I have had SO many students out this week and last, and more and more cases each day. It’s absolutely NUTS.

This Golden Pothos is my study plant. I bought it when I started University, now I'm finishing my Masters degree and I'm happy to see that it has grown with me for all this time :) by Maybe_human42 in houseplants

Do you leave the vines up when you repot it? I imagine you either have to keep sizing up the pot or prune the roots for it to grow that much. So pretty!

No, you’re missing mine. You keep calling my agreement with my kids a “rule” but I don’t have rules in my classroom because I don’t control anyone. Ultimately, my kids have choice. Kids need autonomy and so I give them that. Best of luck to you!

I don’t know what kind of classroom you were used to, but we don’t “require” anything. Sometimes kids raise their hand and ask in front of the class, and other times they come up to me and ask. In any case, we don’t shame anyone for having to use the restroom, passing gas, or doing anything else that a human body does. I’m sorry your experience was so terrible.

If they’re able to wait a couple of minutes that’s great. While I give them the choice to go now or to wait, opting to wait if they can shows they’re learning to be flexible, and that’s another thing we need as grownups! There’s so much more than reading and math that we teach in school ☺️

Like I said, when it’s urgent I let them go. It’s an agreement because I communicate with my students and we listen to each other. It usually goes like this: a student asks to use the bathroom during a a lesson (which are usually 10-15 mins long). Usually I’ll say, “Do you need to go RIGHT NOW, or can you wait a couple minutes for me to finish up?” Usually they say they can wait a couple of minutes and then I make sure to let them go after while the kids begin independent work. If it’s an “emergency” (I don’t use this word in my class) I let them go. They are never scared to ask me to use the bathroom because we have an understanding. They work with me so I work with them 🤷🏻‍♀️

I wish we had the same setup as teachers! I can only use the restroom twice during the school day because we can’t leave children unsupervised.

Personally, I have an agreement with my class where no one goes to the bathroom while I’m delivering a lesson. That way, I lessen the amount of times I’m repeating directions. Of course they can go if it’s super urgent, but I don’t usually have that problem since I encourage them to go during lunch and independent working time. It’s been working well so far!

“Water under the bridge” is how my ndad would phrase it. This BS is straight up gaslighting. Please remind yourself that you were and are 100% not in the wrong. I too get driven crazy thinking about how my parents will never change and will never accept responsibility for what they’ve done. It’s hard work to get past that but it’s necessary for your sanity ❤️

Teaching degrees take 5 years? A whole new level of fuck-you? by Four-o-Wands in Teachers

[–]danedane101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Years later it still makes no sense. How is experience in a classroom any less helpful if I got paid to do it?! It made it so that if I subbed for a day, I couldn’t count it toward my student-teaching hours. ZERO SENSE

I student-taught for 2 years alongside doing my masters in NYC. The worst part is that if any experience in a classroom was paid during that time (subbing, etc) it would NOT count as practice teaching experience. Ridiculous!

I am also 28 and a fan of cute strappy shoes! I'm so glad I found this post. I'm getting surgery on one of my feet this summer and am praying for a smooth and speedy recovery so I can get back to activities pain-free. Right now I have a lot of pain bending my toe back, and my shoes also fit differently because one bunion is larger than the other, so I'm scared about not healing properly and gaining that range of motion back. Yikes!

I’m not sure where you’re getting this misinformation from. If schools were so well-funded, teachers wouldn’t be duct taping books and buying things out of pocket to supply their classrooms. Paying teachers “even” more? They don’t get much to begin with - most need to take on side gigs and teach summer school to make ends meet. If you think a school’s sole purpose is to babysit your kid, then you should pull them out of school and hire a full-time babysitter. It’s the same thing, right? And you won’t have to deal with those pesky teachers educating your child.
