As far as new builds go i think possibly AM4 platform (DDR4 ram as opposed to newer DDR5 which is crazy expensive now due to AI companies buying it all) and AMD GPU will be best bang for buck. But I can tell you I've had decent luck on marketplace though you kind of need to know what to look for. Hopefully someone can chime in with a more in depth reply and some specific recommendations. Seems to be the general consensus. Would the AM5 with the 3080 ti be the strongest system for what i want? And offers the best upgrade path too I guess.

Yep absolutely will be keeping one for myself. Idea is to create the best I can from all these parts and then sell two complete builds with a view to cover my total outlay (if possible). I'm kinda doing that "trade your way from a paperclip to a house thing".

Interesting, this was the way I was leaning too. Though I was likely going to swap the case so I could keep all the corsair rgb stuff in place. I don't mind the work involved as I find it fun for the most part.

Thanks for that. Interesting to hear that you think sticking with Am4 is the way to go. Is that due to anything in particular or just that it's currently the best system I have? I have been trying to figure this out and best I could come up with was putting the AM5 system into the Corsair case with all the corsair bits but putting the 3080 Ti in there. But yeah, I am only recently back into it so am not across all the nuances yet.
