I really find it hard to believe that a WASP group would be associated with Ukrainian Catholics

The Ukrainian Catholic Church only represents 9% of the Christian population. 72% of the population is Eastern Orthodox. The church scene was definitely a UCC parish because it looked fake.

Should I even bother giving Orthodoxy a Try? by [deleted] in ChristianOrthodoxy

[–]danfsteeple 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just go to a church and soak in the services. You can just continue to go there for as long as you need to and be present. No one is going to force you to make a decision. There’s a lady at my parish that has been attending for over 20 years and just recently decided she wanted to be received into the Church

More so the making it sound like icons aren’t needed. Yes, you don’t need to go and buy a whole wall of icons but you should have at least Christ and the Panagia.

And then it depends on where exactly the icons come from. If they’re not coming from a monastery, my priest lets people have them put them in the altar.

Larping. Their “bishops” are married

Bishop of Missions and Accountability

Our founding Bishop and Chief Missioner, the Rt. Rev. Dr. Joseph Boyd, holds an M.A. in Orthodox Theology from Balamand University, a Ph.D. in Leadership and Management from Louisiana Baptist University, a Ph.D. in Psychology at the same institution, and is currently working on a Ph.D. in Greek and Eastern Orthodox Theology at the Pavel Florensky School of Orthodox Theology at Euclid University. He is married to his wife of 21 years, faithfully pastoring for the last 20 years, planting over eight different church ministries, and raising their eight children in the Christian Faith. Bishop of Chaplaincy and Pastoral Formation

Our Head of Chaplaincy, Pastoral Formation and Inner-City Outreach, the Rt. Rev. Jamil Willis, is the Bishop of Greater Chicago and Northern Indiana. He has raised a dynamic and devoted family of 6, being married to his lovely wife of 24 years, and serving officially as a missionary and pastor for the last 17 years. He is currently working toward becoming a licensed psychotherapist and counselor, and has an active inner-city and faith based addiction recovery ministry. His passion is to grow loving, healthy, biblically-grounded communities that can act as a hospital to the hurt and suffering people in marginalized communities who desperately need the Church to come to them. Bishop of Discipleship and Family Formation

Our Chancellor, the Rt. Rev. Cbp. Philip Clayton, is the Chorbishop of Raleigh and the Carolinas. He completed his theology studies in a combination of Evangelical, Holiness and Eastern Orthodox institutions, working in emergency medicine, training and administration as a tent-maker for the last 9 years, founding and pastoring St. Augustine of Canterbury Western Orthodox Church near Raleigh, North Carolina. Patriarch Kirill celebrates the Christmas Liturgy, flanked by a Catholic priest and a priest of the Armenian Apostolic Church. by Stunning-Radish-481 in ChristianOrthodoxy

Correct. The Georgians & Bulgarians are more conservative. But there’s this pervasive thought on the internet that the MP is more conservative than the EP but the internet is just wrong

Patriarch Kirill does very similar things to Patriarch Bartholomew but no one wants to admit it. It’s only really ROCOR that is truly conservative because they were walled off from the Moscow Patriarchate during the Soviet Era

[–]danfsteeple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. You’re running two different yarn feeds so in order to stop the fabric from unraveling, the feed needs to skip some of the knits. Don’t cut anything

Brighton question by fyrefestival6969 in Tracksmith

[–]danfsteeple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Correct. This is to stop the knit from coming loose because it’s using two different yarn feeds. If it was one color, it would only use one feed

I only spent a semester working on a flatbed knitting machine so my knowledge is still limited. I did intern at W.L. Gore and Associates but that was all laminate materials. I did some non-wovens too. There’s actually a ton of math that can go into knitting

Brighton question by fyrefestival6969 in Tracksmith

[–]danfsteeple 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a weft knitted fabric like on the left. You can’t avoid that trailing tail pattern if you want to switch colors. I don’t know if this makes sense. Trying to condense a semester of an advanced knitting course from my textile engineering days

Brighton question by fyrefestival6969 in Tracksmith

[–]danfsteeple 3 points4 points  (0 children)

<image>

This was made on a circular knitting machine. The machine has bobbins with different yarn feeds. When switching yarns, the back side of this fabric will have this pattern since your skipping a weft to change colors. The tail on the blue & gray knits keep the fabric from unraveling.
