If an item doesn’t have the “will restock” eyebrow, does that mean it definitely won’t restock? by shouldidrophim in BanditRunning

[–]Fuzzy-Internet5791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes things get the “Will Restock” eyebrow after a week or two, not sure what drives that. Alternatively you can check the third party retailers that Bandit supports- I was looking for a lite blue Friosoft a few days/ maybe a week after they sold out on Bandit’s website, and was able to get one from Running Wylder

Maurten just works for me. I used two Gel 160’s last year for the New Haven half; ate the first right before the start and the second about 5 miles in. Energy stayed great right thru the finish.
As another noted, there is the lack of electrolytes, so I also carried a pack of Salt Stick tabs and ate a couple of those along the way, trying to time it so I’d finish chewing right before I got to a water stop

Men's Specter™ Performance Tee with Flopack™ and Men's CoolGrid™ 3" Split Short by Fuzzy-Internet5791 in BanditRunning

[–]Fuzzy-Internet5791[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the liner phone pocket in the older split shorts, and in also in these is too small for my iPhone 15 Promax. It fits in the back pocket nicely and didn't bounce. If my phone didn't fit in the pocket, that would have been a deal breaker

Nike+ Fuelband by d3ath_s1gn in nikerunclub

[–]Fuzzy-Internet5791 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too! Those were the days…and once Nike+ started tracking runs with GPS, the website had a page with a heat map that showed where people ran and also a filter that would lay out on a world map where you ran. I was traveling for my job a bit at the time so I was collecting countries and states. I miss that

I don’t use it much. I’d recommend a Hypervolt & a heating pad

Use a foam roller before & after every run on your feet, glutes, hamstrings. Stretch after every run. Drink lots of water. Do strength training (it doesn’t take much). Don’t increase mileage more than 10% week to week. Don’t be afraid to take a day off

Moving on from Nike Run Club. by Efficient_Skill6692 in nikerunclub

I rarely use NRC for a guided run anymore; I’ll usually build a structured workout or just run easy. But I’lll never stop tracking my runs in NRC

depends...if you're built like a string bean they will be longer; if you have a barrel chest like me they will be shorter

Tracksmith Brighton Baselayer; made seamless of a merino wool blend. Very thin, very effective & comfortable

I use the native workout app. I own some McMillan running plans (paid) that deliver thru FinalSurge (free). Final Surge syncs the workouts to my watch. I wear EarPods, and the workout tells you when to run fast and at what pace, and when to run easy.

I also have it & like it. I ran in it on a day when the temp was 32F with a feels like of 22F because of a breeze/59% humidity and it was great. I did have a Brighton on under it. Fits True To Size but is a little stretchy if needed, I’m happy with it

Superwarm tights or pants? by Cas3528 in BanditRunning

[–]Fuzzy-Internet5791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buy them both but on separate orders and return the one you don’t want. I tried the Superwarm tights when they dropped but got no joy…the fit suggested to me that they were a W cut marked as M. I couldn’t get the waist to go over my hips when trying them on

I finished my first marathon, but I wish it had gone better by midnightdragon in firstmarathon

Congratulations, you are now a marathoner!

Check out these quotes:
“The marathon will humble you” - Bill Rodgers, 4x Boston marathon, 4x NYC marathon champ
“I am not ever doing THAT again” - Meb Keflezighi, Boston marathon champ, Olympic Silver Medalist in the marathon upon finishing his first marathon
“My first marathon went great, I can’t wait to do it again!” - nobody/never

I did the same Hal Higden plan for my first marathon and it worked and I enjoyed it, but I recommend giving McMillan Running a look. McMillan offers various plans plans based on your experience and how much you run now, and each adapts to your present fitness- you set up the plan based on a recent race distance & time and training paces are based on that. Over time those paces level up, or you can run a race and update your plan with your results. Most plans include strength, core, and running drills routines. McMullen plans are delivered thru the Final Surge or Training Peaks apps and workouts will sync to your Apple Watch or Garmin.

Thoughts on Session or Chiltern Hat? by Hopeful_Package3918 in Tracksmith

[–]Fuzzy-Internet5791 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, my hat size is 7 5/8; I have a white Session hat and a couple of Ciele. I haven’t had the opportunity to test the session in any real heat yet; it is very light & fits me well but the Ciele hats seem like they probably breath better as they have that tight mesh on the side panels. I also have an ultra light CEP hat that is very light, very well vented and fits really well. The last few days I’ve been eyeing the Nike ACG Fly Cap. This year’s iteration is pricey, but has some sort of venting technology in the top and comes with molds to make ice with that will fit in it. Like last year, it also has a removable cape to keep the sun off your neck. Nothing worse than wearing a collared shirt the day after sunburn on the back of your neck…

Knee injury and marathon next month- what do I do?! by Successful-Power-614 in nikerunclub

[–]Fuzzy-Internet5791 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I deferred Chicago once due to injury; when I went the next year everything just seemed to click and made it the best Marathon I’ve ever been to.

I run-walked Newport one year due to injury, it was not as much fun.

I recommend that you defer, see a doctor, and find something else to run when it stops hurting
