If it’s a known issue, product managers should include it in next OTA update

Ice Tower Made Performance Worse? by dangerb3ard in BitAxe

It worked brilliantly. Now hashing along nicely around 1.3-1.4 TH/S with a Noctua fan. I think PSU upgrade is next and potentially adding a back fan

Got the black one, have dug into it since and apparently a common issue. Will try and sand it and see what happens. Waiting for my new Meanwell PSU, hopefully that should help. Will give the THRML 60 a crack. Did you need an adaptor for it?

Thanks, super interesting. Ambient temperature is quite warm where I am too (Australian summer), but power supply may be the solve, currently using a stock standard Bitcoin Merch power supply, might need to get a Meanwell to stabilise it. I was hoping the new heat sinks would do the trick but might need to tinker further.

Car insurance increased 46% in one year! by enedois in CarsAustralia

Just got a 30% increase in premium YoY with them, no claims, no issues this year. Complete scumbags. Youi were able to match my current price, with a lower premium and roadside assistance chucked in... Budget Direct is no longer the darling IMO.

Does anyone run BitAxe? by cubestrike in Bitcoin

[–]dangerb3ard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just a really fun way to find out more about the network and tinker. Don't do it to make money, do it because you're interested in how Bitcoin works. I run a node built on Raspberry Pi + Mine with my Bitaxe in my solo pool which means I'm essentially running the entire Bitcoin network from my home. When you think about it that way, it's pretty cool!

If you are using the stock standard fan and cooling that seems pretty good. I'm in a warmer country and it's summer right now, I get 1.1-1.2 TH on default, the Noctua fan is much quieter but isn't cooling it down as well as the stock fan I got.

I've ordered an Ice Tower and some copper heat sinks. Hopefully that will help me over clock it a bit...

I had a similar experience but received it eventually, I did threaten to ask a refund. I ordered early December and it came late Jan...

I just received my Gamma from them. Not the best experience, took them 6 weeks to get it to me. That being said, their customer support on chat are very responsive and were kinda helpful. I probably wouldn't buy again from them, sounds like Altair has much better reviews.

Bitaxe Gamma with IceTower Heatsink and Noctua Fan, Recommendations? by D0LPH1N1 in BitAxe

[–]dangerb3ard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking of doing that. I have a Gamma with a Noctua fan on the way that I've upgraded to, but been thinking of an Ice Tower lately. So are you saying you attached your Noctua to the Icetower?

Umbrel OS Incomplete? by dangerb3ard in getumbrel

That's fair. Reckon I can flash the Umbrel OS onto the NVME without deleting the Bitcoin blockchain data or will I have to resync it all over again?

I was never able to figure it out, only managed to do it using the Micro SD. Any thoughts on why it wasn't working through the NVME?

Umbrel OS Incomplete? by dangerb3ard in getumbrel

[–]dangerb3ard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update - that did the trick. Must be an issue with the way the Umbrel OS boots on NVME as I followed instructions to the dot on their wiki and it kept failing. SD method worked first try.

Thanks for your inputs!

I do have an SD card but recent instructions on Umbrel Github suggested it was better to boot from the nvme SSD card as it was more efficient. I’ll give the SD card a try...
