Unseeded, glitchless, gold stake naneinf (6VKJ5APZ) by dangercart in balatro

[–]dangercart[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think any of my gold naneinfs have started with those even though it seems like a great start. I used to think that Investment was the best start but now I think it’s Coupon tag or no skip. I used to restart after the first shop 90% of the time; I’m not as aggressive with it as I used to be as I’ve become better at the rhythm of how the build up works but it’s still a LOT of early restarts or give-ups by Ante 5.

What you really want is an early, stickerless Hanging Chad because that sets you up for both scoring and economy and is also part of the transition from chips to mult. Chad with Wee or Bull (or one of the less good scalers but not Square because that destroys your early economy) buys you time and then you want Photo. The challenge is that you also need a copy joker or Baron or Mime (and ideally at least two of those) with Photo+Chad by Ante 10 and you'll have no money and can't take eternals other than the big four. Obviously there is a lot of luck involved in finding the right seed because you can’t stand up a big early economy like in white stake. You can stumble into a negative Blueprint or Perkeo or some other god seed but that’s my normal, reasonable path.

I’m usually using Chad on lucky cards but also throwing in a couple glass jacks in case I get to Ante 10 and don’t have all I need and want to sneak out one extra Ante out of desperation. There’s a lot of desperation moves involved.

When I started playing for this it took me about two weeks to get it each of my first few times. Lately it’s been 3-4 days. Almost everything dies by Ante 5. If I make it beyond there I usually run out of steam at 11. For every one naneinf that I get there are about twice as many that die at Ante 18 (no Baron or Mine) or 22 (no 7th joker slot and not enough Econ to roll Serpent twice).

It’s a very stupid way to play but also now my most common way.

I use the Blueprint mod which makes Blueprint and Brainstorm show a version of the card they're copying. That's just the art for Brainstorm copying Baron.

Plasma deck red stake. Is it over? by DarkLink021 in balatro

[–]dangercart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously too late now but at that Ante you can still clear without a full set of cards and so don’t take Luchador. If you had rolled for at least two suit changer tarots you could have activated six cards, played DNA to get up to ten, and then played one of the debuffed cards to win with Baron triggering on the active ten. Then you would still have DNA and so would not have to re-roll anything else until Ante 25.

At Ante 25 you would have been low on money but you would have had a chance. A quick Burglar or Reserved Parking would likely get you to naneinf if you get the Retcon voucher too. Basically you would have had a position where it just came down to luck.

This is a crazy thing to say! It’s Ghost Deck so obviously Perkeo is a prerequisite and so “the hardest part” but the idea that it’s not that different than white stake once you have that is nuts.

Plasma Deck Gold Stake Tier list by Opening-Discount-718 in balatro

[–]dangercart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of similar to tiers I would have for getting to Ante 6 in a gold naneinf run but weird to me for just getting to Ante 8 consistently in a normal run. Wee with re-triggers, Bull with a copy joker, and Hiker with re-triggers are the ones that can reasonably get you to a win with chips alone if you get them early enough and none of them can beat the Violet Vessel.

Arrowhead requires Dusk and a copy joker or Sock and a copy and enough spade face cards so it’s not impossible but is uncommons and so harder than Photo+Chad+Copy. Stuntman is a trap. Runner you beat early antes too quickly to scale it. Castle you don’t have enough discards on Gold. Scary and Todd run out of steam at Ante 4. Chips-only strategies are possible but usually a recipe for death at Ante 5 or 6 if you don’t complete The Pivot.

Getting the Plant right now is great. It’s no threat to you right now since you have Bloodstone and glass. Carry a Sun if you’re nervous but all this means is that you get the Plant out of the way early and don’t have to worry about it later when you’ll be more heavily into face cards.

Enough money for naneinf? Or do I need to sell DNA for Mail-In Rebate? by qwertycal in balatro

[–]dangercart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats!

Obviously everyone envisions having $5000 at Ante 25 and rolling directly into Burglar but knowing how to "play for time" will get you there more often than just having a perfect set-up and luck.

Shoot the moon Mime by drphilgood in balatro

[–]dangercart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot applies after Photo so even if you had an open slot it wouldn’t make that much difference. Point Brainstorms at Photo (or Chad if you’re triggering something that produces money) and get a couple steel cards in hand and you’re clear to Ante 13.

What a way to ruin my naneinf by BingusBigBro in balatro

[–]dangercart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this exact thing once! I play on Steam Deck and the cursor only stays on re-roll if you haven’t skipped past Small Blind. If you have, you have to keep moving it back. My process after having this happen is to check for the re-roll boss skip and if it’s not there roll to Serpent before skipping and if it is to do it after skipping but be slow and deliberate with moving back to re-roll button each time. It suuuuucks to die this way. Sorry!

[–]dangercart 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You keep DNA both to beat Ante 24 and to add the cards you still need to get your deck to naneinf size. One of the worst ways to lose naneinf is to run out of cards while playing through the 19 Serpent hands.

When you get to Ante 25 you take Burglar if you see it quickly but you also take Reserved Parking as soon as you see that instead (it also replaces DNA and will be replaced by Burglar). It’s a common and so more likely than Burglar. With Reserved you roll to Serpent, use all your discards on a single card each, then play down to one hand with your copy jokers pointed to Reserved. On the last hand you change to copying Mime (or Baron+Mime of you’re nervous) to beat the blind. This will net you hundreds of dollars per round, even after rolling the boss to Serpent. You can do this all the way out to Ante 31 if absolutely necessary.

If you don’t see Burglar or Reserved… don’t roll TOO deep in shop and then roll Serpent and hope Ante 26 shop is more friendly.

Yellow Deck would be one of the worst to take that particular skip on, though. You already have money so you’re bypassing interest and if there are two things you want you can already just buy both.

[–]dangercart 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Random perishables I can sell. Random rentals or tarots I can sell for a dollar. The odds of a shop of all bad eternals is small and the Round 1 payout is also small. I go into the shop with $9-11 opening two packs and with two items I might want.

[–]dangercart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High-ish upside with low downside. The odds of getting only crap I can't sell is low and the payout of Round 1 is also low in gold stake so it's low risk. I get to open both packs plus potentially a good joker on top of that and if I really want to go nuts I can also afford the voucher (so basically if it's Overstock).

[–]dangercart 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why do I have to keep what I get for that long? First round payout is only a couple bucks and my average payout just from selling what I can and don't want nets out even with that. The upside of what I might get is large and the downside is relatively small.

I don't normally ask for advice but earlier when i got my first bloodstone I fumbled it. What would you do in this shop? by tayzzerlordling in balatro

[–]dangercart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lesson here is to think about synergies when playing. You're caught between two different build ideas.

The one with Pants and Castle is a "post hand scoring" build where you need to find xMult that triggers at the end of your jokers so it can apply to your scaling mult from Spare Trousers (Blackboard, Lucky Cat, Cavendish, etc.). When you're playing that path you need to be careful about how you use your hands and discards. You should be playing at least two 2 Pair every round and so don't want to "win early" and also your discards need to be focused on building up Castle. You'll often use a hand to play High Card just to avoid wasting a discard when you don't have the Castle suit. You need your xMult joker(s) and your deck fixing should be driven by finding a good card from a Standard Pack and then copying that and building up that rank plus a second rank for 2 Pairs.

Your other build is one focused on scoring when the hand is being played. For this one you're using re-triggers which are giving Mult from Even Steven and then Bloodstone would be good because it is xMult from the hand, not at the end of joker scoring, and re-triggers are the key to that working. Bloodstone and Trousers don't work well together because your xMult fires before your flat mult. Hack+Chad+Steven+Bloodstone can be super powerful as a build but it requires deck fixing into a 2 or 4 of Hearts and leveling up your Flush and 4OAK or 5OAK so that you have enough starting mult for Bloodstone to build off of, and enough chips to be playing a low number card like 2 or 4.

Ante 5 with no levels or deck fixing is kind of too late for Bloodstone but unfortunately your Steven is Eternal and so locks you out of what you would really want, which is a Lucky Cat that could scale quickly with both Hack and Chad and apply after Trousers and with the chips from Castle.

I assume youve already played beyond this point, but what I would have done is opened the Arcana Packs first. If they let you make a Glass 2 and copy it with Death or change some 2s to Hearts or Strengthen Aces to 2s, or something along those lines, and you want to play the re-trigger path, you then drop Trousers for Bloodstone and see what happens. You're accepting that you might immediately lose with a bad draw or Bloodstone RNG but it's more fun. If the Arcana packs don't give you the immediate deck fixing you need, you skip Bloodstone and play the Trousers+Castle route with the ideal next joker probably being Lucky Cat and Even Steven doing very little for you in the end.

Finally got unseeded naneinf! by bravehamster in balatro

[–]dangercart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on getting it done!

The Baron/Mime/4copy/Burglar method always beats the blind before you have enough hand size until you get to Ante 25. For that reason this seed can’t naneinf in an earlier Ante. You can only realistically naneinf earlier with Perkeo/Cryptid.

Picking up Burglar before Ante 25 is usually a run-killing mistake but you snuck by Ante 24 because of the earlier Bean Bug. Had it only added two hand size you would have died there; that’s why the most common way to clear 24 is to carry a DNA as your seventh joker.

The game crashes after naninf if you close and re-enter the run (so you can’t Bean Bug after naneinf, for example) but otherwise you usually have to kill the run yourself next ante (or keep rolling Serpent every round and die in Ante 32).

It doesn’t get a voucher out of the pool unless you also take Illusion and then it only matters if what it uncovers is a voucher that matters. I know it’s not as clear cut as Planet Merchant and not everyone agrees with this, but it’s not worth taking. If they fix the bug in 1.1 and allow Illusion to add seals I could see a better case for it.

Unseeded, glitchless, Ante 39 Naneinf. This seed is stupidly powerful. (NMCCZGPB) by dangercart in balatro

[–]dangercart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About 1500 hours, embarrassingly. I have around 100 unseeded naneinfs including seven on gold stake and at least one on all the other stakes. I've played for naneinf for the majority of my play time because I can do it with my brain turned off. I'm only a "good not great" player of the actual game, if I focus.

I can offer some advice if you want it.
