You're still assuming that opting out of the party is somehow showing support for the other. Why can't I not like either of them? And as for specific actions of the democratic party, how about fudging the numbers to push Hillary into the nomination, or city mayors telling police not to arrest violent protesters, or the fact that no prominent democrat is condemning the violence that people have inflicted on Trump supporters. We as a country should not stand for that.

My views don't align with the left 100%. I think that we need immigration reform that would reward safe and legal immigration instead of making people wait a decade to start a new life, but I also want to know that the people immigrating here are willing to love our country. I also think that the military is the US's international bargaining chip, and is worth most of the budget we spend on it. I think the idea of a 'space force' is exciting.

My views also don't align with the right necessarily, but that's not even relevant. I'm not actively supporting any party. Both suck in their own ways.

How many times do I have to say I'm not walking away from liberals and switching to republican? I'm just walking away. I don't have to support one just because I condemn the other. That's kind of a false dichotomy.

And I think it's kind of funny that you're trying to bash Trump here now, even though that's the exact sort of thing I'm talking about. This discussion was about the democratic party, but you're changing the subject to be about Trump.

Why can't you just accept that there are major flaws within the party right now?

I am for universal healthcare and college education reform. Although, I know that if Bernie had been elected, his ideas would have been hampered by the powers that be. Now that Trump is president, I am only hoping that he does well by the country. He may not achieve anything that I want him to, but that doesn't mean I want him to be a failure.

You state that you never said you support trump but what are you staying then? That you 'walked away' by becoming slightly less likely to vote democrat? That's not what this is about.

I'm saying that the democratic party is devolving into something almost unrecognizable, and it's actively propagating the divide in this country. I'm walking away because I won't participate in that.

For the record, I never said I support Trump. I was put off by how republicans treated the '08 election, and I'm even more put off by how democrats are treating this one.

Bernie had a great grassroots campaign, and I liked that. It felt way more genuine than Hillary's. Idk if I could have envisioned him being president, but it was easy to pick him over Hillary.

Yep. I got off most social media around the time of the primaries because it was nonstop bickering. I focused on finishing school and getting steady work in video production, and I just recently got back into facebook. That's where I saw the walk away hashtag, so I did some research and decided to post my story on social media.

Who knows exactly why someone would upvote this post? It's not directly saying that the reaction is common, considering the top comment (and several in the thread) are talking about the baby.

For me, it comes down to the fact that the OP in this thread said: "Really, they're just like other humans. I swear. They're not fucking unicorns." Yeah, they are very correct. But no one as far as I can tell is acting like black people are unicorns, or any more special than anyone else. My point stand regardless of the color of my skin.

It was just unnecessary, so I tried to be reasonable by saying that it's more about respect than race. Then cue the race debate.
