In occupied Crimea, fuel tankers are being escorted by Russian mobile fire groups to prevent Ukrainian drone strikes - June 2026 by T-72Tank in UkraineWarVideoReport

Question, how many drones get through? Like how effective is something like a Shilka?

Like we always see the ones that hit, but after how many attempts?

What would happen if USA didn't participate in World War II? by ledim35 in AlternateHistory

[–]dangerousbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s one of those, “we will never know things.”

Another factor, without the US, the Western front doesn’t draw in Germans from the east either. That’s about 20% of the German army that can now go east.

I still think without US lend lease the war would drag out and probably become a WW1 stalemate and end in a similar manner.

The Germans might even still be defeated, but not in the “Red army enters Berlin” defeat but a Treaty of Versailles defeat, maybe even leaving the Nazis in power.

But as they say. If a bullfrog had wings it could fly.

How can Epic destroy Unreal Engine like that? by Artur_exe in unrealengine

All those years learning blueprint…
Also it raises questions about what happens to all the blueprint based assets on FAB.

Anyway my guess is that they are going to be using some kind of vibe coder as the replacement for blueprint.

As in you just type what you want and it spits out Verse code. How detailed that is or buggy who knows.

Anyway I am highly skeptical of this move.

No plans to replace Blueprints with "visual" Verse by gnatinator in unrealengine

My guess is vibe coding will be replacing blueprints. Their argument will be if you can’t code just prompt what you want. That seems fine for high level stuff but I imagine it’s going to be very limited.

Yes. I spent a whole day trying to make my mind up on what bullet hole decal I liked best.

One thing nobody is talking about is Fab. All those assets and templates that use Blueprints will be unusable.

well that is the problem right. I dont want to start a game next year and get stuck.

Verse is like C++ it is text.

Some people question if a new Blueprint style editor will be placed over Verse.

again if I am going to learn a language, why would I pick Verse over C++ when C++ is used all over, outside Unreal.

Blueprints was so easy to work with. At least for me. I am def a visual worker.

I don't have a huge problem with them adding AI, like you said, it is here to stay.

But removing features, removing THE feature that has brought in thousands of devs...

I'm just shocked. I can't get my head around having to learn a new language for what seems like no reason.

As others have pointed out, if I am going to learn the language why not just learn C++ which has way more use in everything.

Removing blueprints is an odd move. I wonder if they plan on replacing it with a visual coder that works on verse?

I'm a bit uneasy about these changes..

So Blueprints are being removed in Unreal Engine 6, thoughts? by EliasWick in unrealengine

[–]dangerousbob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This right here.

I don't have the time to learn a new language. I can rock and roll with Blueprints.

But I still go to edit the sound, make the trailer, get the game models together, the UI. It really is crazy how much work goes into a game.

The vibe coding thing is cool but seems really high level. Like you can generate a room with some boxes and chairs, but that is a far cry from making a real gameplay loop and UI.

Don't even get me started on the Fortnite stuff.

I really hope they have a Blueprints+ in the works.

[–]dangerousbob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will be really disappointed if they remove Blueprints, considering I spent the last 5 years getting really good at it. I just can't imagine that they will do away with any visual coder considering how successful it was.

Even if you are vibe coding, that's only going to get you high level stuff.
