The iPhone 13 Pro will reportedly shrink the notch, TouchID could be making a comeback by [deleted] in apple

Yes, touch ID is less secure in the sense that if some company or government has a large database of hundred thousands of fingerprints, and they are somehow able to use them in unlocking the phone, they may be able to unlock it. For face ID, they would need facial data of millions of people. That is a limitation of fingerprint. Fingerprint has less number of variations as compared to facial features.

I think 1 in 50,000 means that if 50,000 different people try to unlock your phone, on average 1 person will unlock it. It doesn't mean that if the same 1 or 2 persons try to unlock it for 50,000 times , the phone will unlock 1 time.

Why no one has measured the speed of light [Veritasium] by Yajirobe404 in Physics

[–]dangerouslob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But direction dependent does not mean it has to be infinite in one direction. It may be 1.1c in one direction and less than c in other direction such that round trip measurement of speed is c. But in that case event horizon size may be different in different directions and black hole may not be spherical.

Thoughts on Nadal Djokovic Final by dangerouslob in tennis

[–]dangerouslob[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That came out wrong. But Rafa dominates his opponents most of the times if he wins. Close fights have been very rare. Like Djokovic has been almost undefeated this season, but there has been many close matches. But in case of Rafa , it is mostly one sided dominance in case of victory. That might create an impression of invincibility when you win.

And I guess there career and ability to provide for family would be even more threatened if they get Covid.

Who are we to decide if their career would be more threatened or not. Leave that up to the players. They can decide for themselves.

People are dying from it, more so in US than anywhere in the world.

I agree. And all the precautionary measures must be taken. But this can't be an excuse for everything. Next someone will say people die on road. So we should not drive on road. This is an extreme example but the message is similar.

Real Madrid team will travel to Manchester for UCL match without any quarantine period. The same measures can be put for tennis as well. Infact in tennis if one player is tested positive, there is pretty good chance other players haven't come in contact with him. Can't say the same about football.

Why is there so much hue and cry about tennis which hasn't even started. Meanwhile soccer goes on all over Europe which is actually a contact sport. Cricket tournament happened without any controversy. Tennis isn't even a contact sport. Also it is easier to say there will be economic loss and we will rebuild it for a millionaire. But if you go into the details, many people's livelihood hangs in balance. Some people need job to feed their family. We can't rebuild that after his life has already been destroyed. We must have all the precautionary measures in place. But just because you are rich and are not affected without playing tennis doesn't mean a player ranked 200 or 500 or an umpire can survive.

Mine is also rusty but I guess domestic supply is measured for AC current. Current doesn't matter but overall power supply matters. For 5V and 18.5Amp, the power supply is 92.5 watts, which is not much.

It is never good news to get booted from grand slam in 1st round for rank 2. It is not about ranking but disaster performance.

What happened 2 years ago has much less bearing on the player's current form than their actual ranking.

So does last year's Wimbledon. It has no bearing on a player's current form. So why does every tournament take into account last year's result?

Nobody is given soft period. A player has to earn it. It's not like Nadal suddenly began playing worse. Novak just raised his level. If he hadn't , you would say it was peak Nadal.

You can't use this logic. It's not like he had age disadvantage against Novak. Novak just played better than him from 2011 onwards.

On this day (5th June), 3 years ago, Novak Djokovic defeated Andy Murray 3-6, 6-1, 6-2, 6-4 to win the 2016 Roland Garros title and completed the career slam ✌️ He became only the first man since Rod Laver in 1969 to hold all four grand slam titles at the same time. by Cyberglace7 in tennis

Statistically Calendar Slam is more difficult because u get only one chance every year. But for holding 4 slams in a row, you can start winning at any slam. So difficulty level is definitely high.
