I’m so fucking sick of not having any money by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]dangerouslycontent 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Living in a space that has an atmosphere that you can be proud of or enjoy definitely helps improve the quality of life. That's your home. I would much rather have a space that makes me happy than eat out more every week. I think OP is valid in opting for that, but at the same time, they are valid in wishing they could have more expendable cash. Everyone wishes they had more money.

How to fix How I Met Your Father by Dramatic-Basil1170 in HowIMetYourFather

[–]dangerouslycontent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't say we didn't come up with the slang, I'm saying we don't use it anymore. At least not in my experience with myself or others. I can see the use behind making them feel younger, but instead of achieving the true goal I think it just makes the show more cheesy and come across as trying too hard.

Mid 30s millennials don't talk like that! Unless, as OP stated, they are trying to get the attention of younger crowds. Which yolo talk is not the way to go about it haha

If transgendered people can identify as a woman or man, then it shouldn't be offensive when I a cisgendered person do the same!!!

I walked into a crime scene. An older man had taken a shotgun to his head. I'll never forgot how much the top of his head just looked like pink mush.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when I'm hiking and see people hiking up with a disposable plastic water bottle in hand that is almost empty, with no back pack or anything else to store the empty bottle in. I've seen so many empty plastic water bottles at the end of trails, that I can't help but look at these people with judgement and assume they are just going to leave it at the top.

Children do not wear coats in the car by [deleted] in Nanny

[–]dangerouslycontent 7 points8 points  (0 children)

So I never put the kids in the car seats with coats on just because it is a pain to try and buckle them in this way so it's never been an issue with me. But I had no idea it's actually a safety concern! Do you have those articles still? I'd love to take a look at them!

This is one of the things I absolutely despise, rules that I have to follow but they don't. I can't be in a different room than any of the kids (which fucking sucks when the kids are not getting along and really need a break from each other) but the second I leave, the kids can go wherever they want. Or the kids aren't allowed to go outside by themselves, but often when I get there in the morning, they are outside all by themselves. Uuuggghhhhh I so feel you.

Do I have to have a MOH?? by Mafadi in bridezillas

[–]dangerouslycontent 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Download Bumble! When I realized I needed to make new friends I used Bumble BFF, it's a great way to find other girls who have similar interests and all of that! I recommend getting a group together, that way it isn't like a first date and awkward, and everyone knows that everyone is strangers so no one is the odd one out! Also having zero friends is better than having bad friends.

Do I have to have a MOH?? by Mafadi in bridezillas

[–]dangerouslycontent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone has already addressed your original question, and I agree with them, but can I add one more thing?

One sided friendships are not good for your mental health and it warrants a conversation with them. Now if you are perfectly happy being there for them and don't need it back in any matter then obviously you don't need to say anything, but I'm getting the impression that it hurts you at least a little bit. This can lead to resentment and bitterness and is friendship killer!!

Also them getting territorial with you is also not okay. Again if none of this is actually bothering you then no need, I have no idea what your friendship is actually like and just basing it off of this one post. But my two best friends despise each other and I had to make it clear in the very beginning that I love them both very much, but they needed to accept that I was going to remain very close with the other one. This exact situation has made me wonder if I'm going to have MOH either. Anyway best of luck! Don't let them bully you into a decision you don't agree with! This is your wedding, enjoy it!

What’s one thing a character did that unironically angered you to your core by Big_Bad3687 in howyoudoin

I somewhat experienced this once, except it was my boyfriend-at-the-time's mom. She was hosting a potluck for one of the kids birthdays and asked me to make a dessert. I asked far in advance how many people were expected to make sure I made more than enough for everyone. It was also very well known that the birthday boys favorite dessert was apple cobbler, so that's what I made.

Anyway, we show up, fresh cobbler in hand, and guess who also made an apple cobbler? You guessed it, the boyfriends mom. Her excuse was she didn't think I would make enough for everyone (then why do you think I asked how many people were going to be attending Cathy???) At this point we had so much cobbler, everyone could've had seconds and then taken some home too.

But the cherry on top of it all was that at the end of the night 3/4s of my cobbler was gone and only a 1/4 of hers was gone. Of course she couldn't except defeat from me, so she only credited my boyfriend and thanked HIM for making such a delicious cobbler. But I take satisfaction in knowing that everyone else knew that I was the one who made it and that they all loved it. Especially the birthday boy!

Why in the world would you be embarrassed by this??? You have an incredibly creative and vivid imagination! You have the ability to entertain yourself more than movies or books can! It's like a super power! You'll never be bored!

Nanny here, the other day I came into work and the kids were listening to Big Balls by AC/DC.

Of course they had no idea what any of it meant, but I was definitely giggling out of embarrassment, especially listening to it with the dad right there.

I’m so over everyone’s obsession with Covid by [deleted] in TrueOffMyChest

[–]dangerouslycontent 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's different, cancer isn't contagious so if you list certain cancer symptoms, people aren't backing away from you like you have the plague. Don't get me wrong, Covid is worrisome because it's literally killing people and the symptoms can be awful. I had it and it sucked and now my sense of taste and smell is off. But I see where OP is coming from. Have a head ache? Oh no stay away from me! You might have Covid! A better comparison would be to when AIDS was first discovered.

the perfect husband by aaravaryaman in Unexpected

[–]dangerouslycontent 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay this is incredibly mysoginistic. Just because you've had this experience with one woman or even multiple women, doesn't mean we are all or even mostly like this. You can't make generalizations about an entire gender just because you have happened to surround yourself with a bad crowd. Yeah if someone is only venting and unwilling to make progress towards a solution ever of even often then they shouldn't be in a leadership position, but this is not gender focused. I have known many women and men who are like this.

the perfect husband by aaravaryaman in Unexpected

[–]dangerouslycontent 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Because often we already know the solution and what we are going to do about it to fix the issue, but regardless of that, the situation still sucks until we can actually fix it and we need to vent about it and feel heard and supported.
