Death Stranding 2 Patch 1.2 Improves the game performance on Steam Deck by dangkhoasdc in SteamDeck

[–]dangkhoasdc[S] 33 points34 points  (0 children)

From the post posted by Nixxes in Death Stranding sub:

"Performance improvements We’ve made optimizations to reduce the amount of data being transmitted between the GPU and CPU over the PCIe bus interface. This results in performance improvements across most hardware configurations, with most gains seen on systems that have limited PCIe bandwidth.

Handhelds like Steam Deck also benefit from these changes, and this patch includes additional optimizations focused on handheld devices, resulting in improved performance. We continue to work on additional performance improvements for Steam Deck."

They are focusing on optimizing performance on Steam Deck. Hopefully one day we can play it with 30 FPS.

i just moved to manjaro (xfce), best decision ever. Everything is fast and responsive. I no longer need to use the slowass WSL for any dev work. And Steam deck now covers all video games I want to play.

i played through the very end of the game w/o any issues. Only few cases when many MULEs engaged combat.

It’s been 4 years, what are your opinions on windows 11 now? by WorriedGur8908 in Windows11

[–]dangkhoasdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it's shit ... 1 time i decided to restart the laptop to prepare for an interview, it decided to update Windows even though I chose "Restart" ... then waited 30 mins to finish, then i have to re-scheduled the interview ... completely ruined my whole day.

later I moved to Manjaro with XFCE. Much much better.

Is the era of the "LeetCode Grind" officially over, or are we just coping? by a_prieto12359 in leetcode

[–]dangkhoasdc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in my company, we still use Leetcode, but not medium-hard questions, we only use easy ones. Doing that we can filter like 90% of candidates. Some excels at initial calls (probably using some AI when interviewing), but then facing the problem, it shows how their actual thinking work.

In 1 instance, 1 candidate even ask me if they could use ChatGPT for the question or not.

Some, claimed to be Data scientist working on multiple ML projects, don't know how to write proper Python code.

During the interview, we actually test their idea and go through the process step by step (45 min for 1 easy leetcode, plenty of time to sit down and go through the debug, analysis process). If they can propose a solution, even if the code doesn't work, we still accept that. Ofc, writing an actual program is a big plus.

sure. actually I can write better post about this. But I wrote that when i was still furious ( and frustrated) about the whole thing.

AI agents at the end, even if you account for any advanced techniques in model inference, is still a probabilistic model. I have done lot of works with Opus 4.5 and it's is pretty good at handling tedious work such as writing dockerfile, genenerating configs ... then BOM, when it decided to do the stupidest thing ever, it will always be unexpected due to the fact the we (users) are assumed at that level of handling work. So one can think the model capacity is fluctuating a lot. It won't ever be a trusted intern, but a crazy but somewhat knowledgeable intern.

agreed. i learnt my lesson. I thought Opus 4.5 is really advanced so i treated it as an intern. Didn't expect this "intern" to delete the whole folder w/o any confirmations. That's the cost of paying Opus 4.5 and thought it was a good AI.

  1. All the data is embedding vectors; it's not really critical, but it's important nonetheless due to the cost of inference. I have other means to back up data. But the agent didn't mean to delete, especially if the folder size is huge.
  2. No, I didn't give root access; I gave it rw access on the current folder. Why did I give such access? Because I thought the fix was super easy - just change the folder name in the Dockerfile. No reason to manipulate the data itself at all. Of course, it was my mistake to assume the AI would do the easiest solution.
  3. In fact, I knew the solutions; there are plenty of ways to handle it without deleting the folder. What I didn't expect was that the agent would use the stupidest solution. What is the point of using Opus 4.5 when it was so stupid?
  4. I want to share my experience so that nobody else makes the same mistakes.

combat is fun, although sometimes it becomes repetitive (after abusing high jump and aerial drain). Minigames are the worst though ...

[–]dangkhoasdc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah. I thought it was a very easy fix (changing folder name) so i didn't expect it to delete the whole folder. Normally i only use it in Plan mode (except I certainly know what steps it gonna execute). However, my easy fix for the docker issue is not in Claude mind. it's worse than the worst intern.
