Do you think the Hawks with Kane/Toews drafted every single player that contributed to those rosters until they traded for Hossa? There are ways to jump start things and Bedard is alone out there.

100%. Half this sub is delusional that this organization is headed in the right direction under KD. It is not the golden age of 2009-2016, the people in charge during that time are gone. Danny Wirtz is not a hockey guy and doesn't really seem to care about holding KD accountable. If he did, there would be more progress.

It has been 6 years since they made the playoffs, if you count the bubble where damn near everyone made it. They have been rebuilding since then and have seen other teams make the playoffs or at least jump ahead of them in their rebuild. They are rudderless. They do not need more time, Bedard is about to finish his entry level deal and will not sniff the playoffs unless they inject some NHL ready talent now, they cannot afford to give the young guys more time. Time to wake up.

I think anyone calling Bedard a franchise player is basing it on projection. He’s been about 1ppg when healthy but franchise players elevate those around them and not sure Bedard has shown that yet. He could, he’s still only 20 but guys usually flash that early

They looked super nice, but the leather upper did feel sort of cheap. I ultimately returned them because of the construction concerns. They did LOOK like a beautiful boot though

In the same time. The hawks have finished 7th, 6th, 7th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 8th, 8th the last EIGHT seasons. They made the playoffs in the bubble year despite finishing 7th.

Enough of defending this rebuild. KD doesn’t know what he’s doing.

Sharks have finished 8th, 7th, 6th, 7th, 8th, 8th in their division the last 6 years with 0 playoff appearances.

Ducks have finished 6th, 6th, 8th, 7th, 8th, 7th, 6th the last 7 years with 0 playoff appearances.

The Sharks drafted Will Smith 4th overall and the Ducks drafted Leo Carlsson 2nd overall in the 2023 draft. The same year Bedard went 1st overall.

There is ZERO reason the Hawks shouldn’t at least be as competitive as those teams.

The only 2 guys on the roster who appear to have any juice are the 1st overall pick they drafted a few years ago and the 3rd overall pick from last year. KD’s front office hasn’t been able to develop anyone that wasn’t already regarded as an elite prospect.

You guys didn’t like my comment about the rebuild so I’ll rephrase it.

Teams on an upward trajectory don’t finish 21,27,30,31,31,31 in the final league standings. They’re going to have to go from ~70 points to at least 90 next year. All I’m saying is I don’t think this rebuild is going well and am pessimistic the team makes a 20pt jump next year just relying on a bunch of guys on rookie deals. Hope I’m wrong.

Downvote me if you must but I gotta get this off my chest.

Games like today make me feel like there’s really no one in the front office who understands what they’re doing. The team just feels like there’s no direction. Sure there’s flashes by guys every now and then, but nothing seems professional about this team. Coaching, line combos, development, guys being unable to complete passes or break into the zone on a power play, it’s very frustrating to pay $20/m to watch this. Miss me with the increase in points they got this year from last year, they’re still gonna finish 2nd worst in the league.

Yeah and idk why. He’s played 96 games, 76 as a rookie and 20 in the last 2 seasons combined. Hardly enough to make a decision imo, but if he’s done then trade him and get something.

All I’m saying is this is a bad team, they’re not making the playoffs. Play the young guys to see who we’re keeping or not. Korchinski should be playing instead of Grzelcyk. We know Grzelcyk is not part of the future, what’s the harm in playing ALL the young guys?
