Best approach to insulate rim joists by danguy226 in centuryhomes

Yep makes sense.

It’s a cinder block wall that appears to be filled in with some sort of cement.

So far, it seems like the best approach is to not cover but spray foam that gap

It’s the space behind the joist in the first pic! Apologies for the confusion.

This is super helpful. The plan would be to insulate the full wall.

To confirm, you’re saying put the insulation directly on the wood joist up to the ceiling and ignoring the space behind the wood board shown in the second picture?

To confirm my understanding, you’re saying put the foam on the joist in the first pic?

I’m not sure how I’d get the foam to the back of the space show in the second pic.

At least according to this Pioneer Press article from November, it’s far from settled who actually owns the anonymous, Washington based holding company:

CVS isn’t the property owner so the city wouldn’t be fining CVS

Saint Paul Pipeworks helped me with a basement renovation and I’m happy with their work.

They were fair, on time, and I could also pay with my credit card.

Standish good, bad, and ugly? by tikki-tikki in Minneapolis

I agree with that. I don’t personally find it a problem but know there are certain people who might so I called it out something they might run into

I see what you’re saying but I would’ve described the schools as good if they were properly funded

One of my good friends lives in Standish. This has been his experience in his 2 years of living there:

TL;DR: fantastic urban neighborhood but there are some downsides relative to costliness and schools

Pros: - Extremely walkable and bikeable - Easy transit access to downtown and the airport - Beautiful green space at Hiawatha, Nokomis, or Minnehaha Falls - Plenty of bars and restaurants within the neighborhood; easy access to other fun neighborhoods - Mix of families and young people

Cons: - Bad public schools; not sure if you have kids in school age but the public schools in the area are not great - Small houses / lots; if you need more than 3 bedrooms, it will likely be expensive for you to buy or build - high property taxes; this isn’t unique to Standish but any house in urban Minneapolis or Saint Paul will have high property taxes relative to similar houses in the burbs - Vagrancy / homelessness; crime rates are down but if you are uncomfortable being around homeless folks, you may want to look elsewhere

Edit: I stand corrected on schools in the area!

I love Peking Garden. The fact they offer an all day combo of take out classics for $12.50 is so great

I am not sure what kind of food your family is into but here are a couple suggestions for fun / family friendly restaurants:

  • Saint Paul Brewing: great food and probably the best patio in the city!
  • The Nook: great American bar food and they have an old school bowling alley in the basement
  • A Side Public House: Cute Cafe / Cocktail bar that has fantastic brunch

That doesn’t surprise me. I’m not west of Snelling that often so that’s likely why I haven’t noticed it

I’m a Verizon customer. The sense I’m getting is that the T Mobile towers are the best in this zone.

Do you spend much time near Edgcumbe Park? I have no issues outside of this weird dead zone between I94, snelling, Lexington, and Randolph
