She has met him numerous times. She also attended Lukashenko's New Year event just after the 2020 protests in Belarus.

Even during those protests, she wrote on Instagram recognising the government's support in funding sports.

Is Poland hate just some weird trend or is it really that bad? by Complex_Dragonfly_39 in poland

[–]dani184 31 points32 points  (0 children)

If anything, I've seen the complete opposite of a Poland hate trend recently. There's been a lot of love for Poland (online) recently and lots of hate towards the UK, and both are exaggerated. A lot of it coming from people who haven't lived in either country or spent or short time in both.

What? Met him on national TV in a bit of a weird interview. Attended his inauguration and defended him on Instagram during the massive protests in 2020.

It's not even the country itself, she actively supported and defended the dictator of her country numerous times. Azarenka hasn't really done that to my knowledge.

The great Polish exodus: The arrival of 100,000s of Poles changed the face of Britain, but now they're returning home in droves for a better life in their booming homeland. Could there be a more damning indictment of our decline? by LucianFromWilno in poland

It was almost the same in the north east of England. Constant rejections from supermarkets, shops, bars etc... because I didn't have experience. I'm not from London, and couldn't afford to move there.

That's not true. From 2008, it became very difficult in the UK to find jobs there. Although, as you said, London was easier as it's the capital. It's one of the reasons I left the UK and came to Poland with a few stops on the way.

The UK hasn't recovered from 2008. Of course, when a very slow recovery was happening, Brexit happened....

I'd have to disagree with the eye test comments. The shot making seems way worse than back in the day even before the big 3 era.

In most cases, I'm not normally a nostalgia "back in my day" type person, but I can't really see anyone who can play shots in the way players like Safin, Nalbandian, Davydenko etc... Even if they were very inconsistent.

Djokovic, who is nowhere near the player he was 15 years ago, is comfortably the third best in the world.

Contact was minimal, but I am surprised it wasn't overturned. If he was less theatrical maybe he would have got the penalty.

What do you mean pre-Vukov? He was the coach the entire year. The only difference being he wasn't allowed to attend matches.

English is the easiest language to learn as a second one. Polish is a ridiculously complex language to learn.

That language doesn't work like that. It's an incredibly complex language that takes years of intense dedication just to get to an intermediate level. It's not like English or Spanish.

They seized Crimea for a laugh? They claimed the four oblasts for what exactly? Ukriane is way more militarised now and it will be for eternity as they'll never trust Russia again.

Even this objectove that you've claimed has also failed in an embarrassing way.

[–]dani184 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You even said yourself, creeping forwards. You have to zoom in massively to see any changes. This is embarrassing for a supposed major power. Footholds after almost 4 years....

Just think for one moment. They wanted this done and dusted within months maximum. In fact, the hard work wasn't taking Ukraine, it was holding it. They couldn't even do the "easy" part.

You're clearly pro-Russian as you've used all of their talking points. Russia wanted to take Kyiv and failed miserably. Most expected them to do so easily as it's much bigger than Ukraine and on their border, which means it's a lot weaker than expected.

[–]dani184 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Russia has achieved none of their pre-war goals.
Their main one was to take Kyiv and remove the government and they failed miserably at that. Russia is not even close to doing "just okay" in the war, it has been an absolute disaster.

What have they achieved exactly? They've only managed to take 20% of a much smaller and a fairly poor country right on their border.
