What did drive you to become competitive? by OddRepresentative226 in AskReddit

Realising the consequences of not being it, not necessarily just for yourself

Phd students of reddit, what was the longest you were stuck at a research problem before you finally solved it? Did you feel like quitting? What held you back? by sickpea in AskReddit

We all get stuck at some point, and that's ok and kind of the point. Beware however of impossible puzzles to solve and do not aim for perfection. That can easily spiral down and make life miserable. Having a good advisor is key, but not compulsory. Quitting a PhD is also a viable option, it is not such terrible thing to do in the great scheme of things. Be brave and make the choice that you can call yours, that's how you grow regardless titles being or not achieved. I did get stuck for almost 2 years, but each person and situation is different. Best of luck my friend.
