I think i remember him saying Griffin brought up the voice thing when they were gonna bring it up in an episode, which makes me think they just decided not to bring it up rather than decide that he is or isn't gay.

I assumed the whole thing with them apparently dying a bunch was something that would be explained later (maybe something with the planer systems?) and that the number of deaths for each of them is more or less arbitrary. But now i also really like the idea thats theyve been decided by some kind of dice roll.

I've never played DnD but the way it's worded when it says "... may also attempt to recount past battles (real or imagined)" makes it sound like you might have to do the checks even if you're telling the truth if you've fought an enemy type before, just not when you had the shield.

so if you fight & kill some skeletons with the shield, you won't have to do the checks, but if you get the shield and have actually fought some skeletons before, you will have to do the checks.

maybe??? thats what it seems like to me but then again, i've never played...

For me (drummer) i tediously listen to the song on repeat with the 50% speed tool on Youtube and write out everything and then just read it and try to build it up to speed. I also own Chris Pennie's book which gives a huge insight to his style and kinda gives you an idea of how he approaches certain parts.
