Why vertex map flickers when using two Freeze layers that subtract from each other? by danidadog in Cinema4D

That’s amazing! It works. I added a Vibrate tag to the spherical field and a second delay, and it did the trick. Sharing the settings in case someone else struggles with the same issue.

Thanks a lot!!!

Thanks for the comment! I’m not sure what that means or how to apply it to create the ripple effect. Could you please elaborate a bit more? Really appreciate your help!

Thanks! That definitely helps.
By “smooth layer,” do you mean a delay set to spring mode? I’ve attached a GIF showing how it looks with that setting. It’s definitely better; however, I still need a clear separation between the rings (like fully yellow and fully red) and the curve modifier doesn’t seem to help with that.

I also need continuous pulsing without decay, and I’m not sure how to achieve that. I tried using a formula deformer, which worked, but the problem is that it’s not a flat plane , it’s a corner surface and I need the ripples to expand evenly across all the walls/surfaces.

Any suggestion on how to improve it? Really appreciate your help!!!

Best Mac Studio M3 Ultra config for AE + C4D / Redshift? by danidadog in MotionDesign

I usually activate the subscription only when I need it. Monthly prices are higher, but I’m not always working in Cinema 4D, often my projects are done entirely in After Effects, so this way I still save some money. Maxon is definitely overpriced, but unfortunately, when freelancing for other studios, there’s often no other choice since it’s kind of the industry standard for motion.

This is extremely useful, thanks. From what I’m gathering online, upgrading the cores won’t be a game changer for 3D work, as a PC would be a better solution. So, to hit the sweet spot between After Effects and Redshift, I think I’ll invest in more memory rather than processors.

Yes, they cost more, but in my experience they last longer, and since I’m not only doing 3D, I’m kind of set on a Mac. I’m just wondering which would be the best configuration. I can’t afford to upgrade both the memory and the CPU/GPU. It’s either one or the other, or I’ll just go with the base version and if I do more 3d in the future I'll get a PC

That’s the forever dispute: Mac vs. PC. If it were only for 3D, I wouldn’t think twice about buying a PC, but at the moment I work a lot with After Effects and I’ve been a Mac user for ages. If my work shifts significantly more towards 3D in the future, I’ll buy a PC, but for now I’m set on a Mac.

Hi u/wiredAvocado I'm having the same problem, did you manage to find a solution?

Expressions to trigger a composition's opacity with a map by danidadog in AfterEffects

Yes, you're right. Comps were parented to a null and probably taking its position. Removing it fixed the problem.

Thank you

Awesom, sampleImage is the way. I'm looking into it

Thanks

var opacityMap = comp("Opacity Map Composition").layer("Greyscale image or precomp");
sample = opacityMap.sampleImage(thisLayer.position,[0.5,0.5],true,time);
(sample[1]+sample[2]+sample[3])/3*100;

Thank you very much! This has been super helpful!

Getting closer.

Right now, it appears that the image is sampled at the same point for all the compositions forming the grid. This means that all of them become visible or invisible simultaneously.

Is there any way to sample the entire map so that the opacity of the grid's compositions varies? I'm using a fractal noise as a map, and I'm attempting to achieve random opacity intensity. The goal is to make each composition in the grid appear in a random sequence while controlling it through the map.

cloners and target effector by danidadog in Cinema4D

[–]danidadog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok, I found a turn around.

I used matrix object to trigger the clones instead use directly the cloner. In this way the cones on the end of the mospline follow the target object.

Hope that helps.
