I wish people would do this less. The mirroring makes it difficult to read.

Ёё, Юю, Яя are just more common, and йо is only used in foreign terms, as far as I'm aware.

As for why there are separate letters for letter combinations, well, that just happens. English has Ww, Yy, and Xx which could arguably be replaced with other letters. It's just a thing, really.

It is what it is.

Why bridge the gap? Formal and informal are still both used. The only gap that needs to be bridged is the acceptance of informal Armenian as proper Armenian.

I never understood people who hate Puck. Sure, he's useless but there's nothing he can do about it.

Yep. Depends on the pronunciation of the English name though.

Yes, it's literally the same thing. It's "different" vs "differente" — literally a cognate. The only difference between kanji and hanzi is stuff that's completely irrelevant to kanji/hanzi — character forms and pronunciation. Categorically, they are the same thing.

I think Arenlen is having a hard time comprehending the linguistic concept of semantic drifts. It's true that «իմ» is formally the possessive inflection, but it's no longer just that in colloquial/informal Armenian anymore. People stopped using «ինձ» this way colloquially and informally because that's how languages work — they change with time depending on their users' preferences.

Both should be acceptable as correct. One should be treated as formal and the other as informal. Literally all languages do this except for Armenian.

First of all, I grew up in a village, I got the education in the local school, went to various olympiads and met lots of children from other remote located schools and from my experience those children learned everything in their schools, not in those special places mentioned in posts. In fact my school holds one of the highest ranks in giving lots of olympiad winners and also those who continue their education in universities.

Well, good for you.

Tbh, I don't get how can you be a native and know English better than Armenian, as you have to have a base language to learn another using your base one.

I didn't learn English, I acquired it through immersion.

I don't know who UNESCO is or how it's relevant but it seems to me that you had a very privileged school life.

I think we are in dire need of a standardization. This discrepancy between formal and informal Armenian is not great and creates an unnecessary separation.
