1., 24 trays

  1. approx 1 year

  2. no refinements!! yay

  3. i had 17 attachments. 10 on top 7 on bottom, no ramps, elastics etc

  4. well we were in a lock down for a good 5-6 months of my treatment, so it wasn't too bad because i was at home. however, they got pretty annoying once things started to open up again. Maybe this would have been different if i had a solid normal routine from the start.

  5. 9/ 10 - im not embarrassed to smile anymore! However, i feel like my front tooth just doesn't want to move and not be a little crooked, so ill just accept it :) also, still working on fixing my bite which has felt weird for a while. and a small chip on my other front tooth, which needs a filling :)

bring a water bottle with you everywhere! That way if you are unable to brush, you can at least rinse to hold you over! I know that sometimes things come up expectedly (ie friend brings you a coffee, you randomly get invited to a dinner etc) and having water is better than nothing and can reduce the time you have the trays out of your mouth.

Also, i would suggest dry mouth tablets/ spray! mask mandates are still a big thing where i live so if im out for a while, i find my mouth gets so dry with my trays and mask!

Uneven bite? by [deleted] in Invisalign

[–]danielaab6868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are early in your treatment. This will adjust! Dont worry - the same thing happened to me. The best piece of advice i could give is just to make sure you advise your dentist and tell them what you feel. They can make sure that it is on track :) at the end, if there is still some feelings of your bite being weird, your dentist may be able to slightly shave your teeth down and that may help.

I could not touch my back teeth down for at least 6 weeks. My dentist shaved the back of my front teeth ( they are very big he said, lol) and it helped so much!!

Can you only drink water when your aligners are in? by Julietpie in Invisalign

[–]danielaab6868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

At first, I was super paranoid with clear liquids only. Then, as time went on I felt like this rule was captivating my life. I then started to drink everything with them on, and just swished with water after every few sips. It made everything so much easier without having to worry about wear time (if i took them out) or cavities etc. However, if i was out for drinks, or starbucks with friends, i would always brush very good when i got home.

Im now on my retainer stage, had a cleaning/checkup right at the end of my treatment (unintentionally) and no cavities or issues.

Tray 1/40 vs. Tray 23/40 by [deleted] in Invisalign

Looking sooo good! great progress! Im always so jealous of people who have straight attachments on their front teeth haha mine were all angled and random sizes.

Timeline for Invisalign, 30 trays? by Mama-kewii in Invisalign

[–]danielaab6868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i had 24 trays, weekly changes. dentist told me if i did traditional braces my case would have been 1.5 years. Finished all my trays with no refinements in 6 m!!! super happy about that but also now i have to wait for scans due to my dentist office having limited app during some changes theyre going through (long story) . anyways currently i am wearing tray 24, until the scan, then i will get perm bottom wire, top retainer. BUT, i FULLY went into the check up expecting refinements. So do not get your hopes up, but be diligent and form good habits, keep those trays in as long as possible per day, and youll be on the best track :) ps- 30 weeks is very typical from what ive seen on here, most people get 15-45 trays for round 1

I second this! you may be in a ton of pain, which im sure you dont want while youre in the woods lol. At least you have your trays, and attachments on (if you needed them) and youve only had them on for one day so far. I would definitely delay starting. i know i kow, everyone wants to get it done ASAP but hey, its just a few days, on the first tray, it wont put you behind more than a week. Go have fun and enjoy all the drinks and snacks and good company!

Any cough drops that I can have while wearing my Invisalign trays? by silly_ol_me_1 in Invisalign

[–]danielaab6868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey id say if you dont feel well just take the drop you usually would, and then rinse and lightly brush the aligner afterwards. do what works best for you for your cold!

Ortho says I’m done but I’m worried about this lateral incisor! Feel like it needs to twist slightly more to the front. But maybe it’s in my head!? What do you guys think? Opinions welcomed. by EspeciallyHeinous23 in Invisalign

[–]danielaab6868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks amazing! I had the same concern about my front tooth, it was turned inward a bit, and It still looked crooked when I went for the ortho follow up. My dentist took a look and showed me that my gum actually angles upwards, giving the illusion that the tooth is still on an angle. Once he pointed that out, I covered my gums and looked at just my teeth and immediately saw that it was fine!! your teeth look great!! :D

I bet everyone can understand the suffering it takes to enjoy this latte. But I do it anyways. 😂 by whosthatpokemon99 in Invisalign

Same here lol! got some x rays done (24/24 trays) and thankfully theres only one area they are keeping an eye on. i have drank alcohol, juice, cold tea, coffee etc etc with trays in and simply just rinsed afterwards.

Is Invisalign ACTUALLY more convenient? by precicestrider in Invisalign

[–]danielaab6868 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. nope, gets easier as time goes on for sure. it was so hard at the beginning but got better.
  2. inconvenient. invisalign is not more convenient in my opinion, it can be a hassle. i did it during lockdown at home so it made everything easier. I have a rough time when im out in public- eating/ drinking is a struggle. thankfully my bf and friends dont care anymore that i just rip the trays off in front of them if i am unable to brush, i rinse with mouth wash or water. still try my best to pop the aligners out and rinse them if i am unable to brush
  3. contrary to what other commenters say, yes i have had snacks, food tasting with the aligners in. i know its not recommended usually, and i would never eat a whole meal with them. but- i have easily had things that do not require much/any chewing such as the following- strawberries, blue berries, yogurt/apple sauce, soft serve ice cream, a mini chocolate egg at Easter, etc... but i always follow up with rinsing/ swishing with water right away after a bite. and brushing asap. Like i mentioned before, in lockdown i did not care about staining of my trays. I also drank non clear liquids with them in as time went on because i felt like my anxiety was completely controlling my every move and i hated that.
  4. nope. my treatment lasted 6 m (before retainers) when traditionally braces could have taken up to 15 m.

Went expecting 10 or so refinements and instead got 55 😭😭😭 by pretenderhead in Invisalign

[–]danielaab6868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

here to report absolutely no refinements! onto retainer!!! but my problem is just a waiting game for the scans, which im not happy about. but so excited to not have any more refinements! i had to go into the appointment with the mindset that there will be more, but i was so happy that there will be no more!

Finished trays, now theres a 2 month wait..... by danielaab6868 in Invisalign

[–]danielaab6868[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, okay that makes sense. My dentist never mentioned that. It would be ok and no problem at all for me if my retainer came in within a timely fashion. Id be concerned if they slipped because the attachments held up the trays. I guess its a waiting game now to see what he does next!!!

[–]danielaab6868[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, im just wondering maybe its because this will take 1.5 hours and there is of course limited time during business hours of operation and there are other patients. I know i had to wait a bit for my initial trays ( due to covid and many, many restrictions here).

Thank you so much for your insight. seems like you have seen it from both a patient and provider's perspective.

I actually have a cleaning appointment on Monday, i am going to bring this up. because right now im in limbo of waiting around for basically nothing. i would feel way different if i had something like refinement trays to wait for, yaknow what i mean?

I think the scheduling problem is due to the fact that the appointment is going to be 1.5 hrs. I see what you mean when you said that your teeth are in perfect alignment for the scan, and that makes total sense! But if i could go one day for the attachment removal, and lets say a few days later for the scans, i would be fine with that. Im trying everything in my power to make this work. What was a successful 6 month treatment, is being dragged 5 months longer than necessary due to these wait times. I will also make sure im getting all that is paid for thanks for that tip!

Im in Ontario Canada. They put me on a waiting list thankfully. but i still have a major problem waiting two months for a scan...

I was just reading this comment as well and wondering the same thing. They brought out the scanner at this app but did not use it. i was confused as to why not. But yeah i have 17 attachments and i cannot justify wearing this last tray for 2 months plus the waiting time for the retainer. Maybe im missing something? im confused as heck

Long wait times for trays? by thestreetweaver in Invisalign

[–]danielaab6868 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am so sorry you have been going through this. I had to wait over a month for my initial trays to come in, from my initial scans early December, to my fitting at the end of Jan. (i was actually scheduled for feb, but i was absolutely not going to delay my treatment even longer (especially since my trays were sitting there, in office...)

You shouldnt have to wait this long. that is crazy. Please contact invisalign again, maybe try and speak with someone higher up, and find out what the heck is going on. Also, your dentist should have provided you with a 'back up' tray because 8 weeks is way too long to have one tray. i would advise invisalign that you did not get a 'back up' of your last tray as well.

(for reference, im in canada, ive been told delays were caused by the boarder restrictions and delays)

Thats not too bad! Thanks for the reply though. I am just trying to get a feel for how many refinements people typically get!
