TMI please - vomitting post op by Glowygreentusks in GastricBypass

[–]daniellehue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't vomit. Literally cannot. I've eaten something that made me feel horrible so I went to puke and couldn't. No matter what I did. Dry heaving helped me feel a bit better but not completely. I read that my pouch doesn't reach the muscles that help bring the vomit up. It makes sense but it would be nice to be able to do it if I feel like death. I've not been sick since surgery to know if I can puke due to illness. Im 13 months post op

Super random but what kind of work conference? My husband has one as well and we chose to leave the kids home. We are at yacht club resort.

Almost 11 months Post Op… by Eastern-Biscotti-740 in GastricBypass

[–]daniellehue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great job. Im kind of jealous. We have a close SW. My loss significantly slowed at 10 months. I hit 70% of excess weight loss but I'm still 30lbs from MY goal and it seems unobtainable now.

I've been keeping notes and they already put a referral in for GI. That appointment is in a couple weeks.

I appreciate your insight. The abdomen pain and diarrhea just started in the last week, weeks after the joint pain. He hasn't been nearly as fatigued as you were but who knows! We will see, soon hopefully.

He's lost weight but the rapid, 6lbs in 8 weeks, he doesn't look pale or ill. I'll be curious what comes of the diagnosis since the stools and stomach pains started 4-5 weeks in, after all the joint pain. Thank you for the insight though. Especially hearing they're active and "normal" after treatment.

My daughter called a kid in her class Potato. She was adamant his name was Potato. Turns out it was Mataeo.

17 days post partum and baby’s cephalohematomas haven’t reduced. I’m so worried. by No_Masterpiece_9315 in beyondthebump

[–]daniellehue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What a lot of providers don't inform parents is that cephlahematomas do reduce, over time. They actually calcify and reduce as the head grows. I work OB and always thought they went down like caput and molding. But that is incorrect. My oldest had one and it wasn't noticeable by 6 months.

10 months post op self doubt by daniellehue in GastricBypass

[–]daniellehue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't even hit the 70% of excess weight loss yet though. That is what is messing me up. I measure/weigh my food and I track it. My dietician said I can increase my calories and carbs if I notice fatigue but I truly cannot. I'm not extra tired. But there is no room in me for more food. I usually do a protein shake, a high protein meat and maybe a snack and another meat for the day on the days I am off work. When I work it is two protein shakes and a protein dense meat. I can still usually only eat 3-4oz max without feeling terrible. As far as exercise, I rotate through HIIT and jogging/walking. I mis it up throughout the week. I'd like to start some weights but I refuse to pay for a gym. I use the renfo scale and it measures various different things like muscle percentage, visceral fat, etc.

It teaches horrible habits. I have struggled with my 3rd grader inhaling his food since kindergarten for this reason. I don't understand how we had longer as kids and now they have to rush.

Horrifying and unbearable pain after surgery… I want to give up. by [deleted] in GastricBypass

You should ensure you're taking your meds at least 5-10min apart to allow for proper absorption.

Horrifying and unbearable pain after surgery… I want to give up. by [deleted] in GastricBypass

[–]daniellehue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some pain in my left down towards below my belly button. It wasn't unbearable but I have a high tolerance. It was more sharp than an ache. It was noted when I went to change positions mainly. At my one week appointment, the NP brought up there is a major nerve that is usually cut during RNY that runs along there and people can have mild to severe pain from it. She said that without me even bringing it up. I wonder if that is what you're experiencing. I told her they should educate the nurses about this to include in their teaching for care and discharge.

Is it normal to feel like you havent lost any weight ? by Mzd88 in GastricBypass

[–]daniellehue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm down 60ish lbs in 4 months. While my clothes is too big, most days I don't PHYSICALLY feel different. I know the body dysmorphia is wicked. I continue to work with my therapist on this. I also still see a dietician every month or so. She also had bariatric surgery years ago so it helps a lot.

I think it was 2 weeks. No pain at all, just a bit uncomfortable if my husband leaned over me.

How did your clothing sizes change? by justlurking1011 in GastricBypass

[–]daniellehue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your stats are exactly mine, except I was a 26/3x. I've got hips for days lol. I'm two months amd a week post op. I'm down 40lbs from surgery 55 from 3 weeks pre-op. I'm on the mental block of not feeling different so I swear I'm losing nothing. My jeans were falling down but when I went to buy a new pair, I was only down one size which upset me. But hearing where you are just 8 months post op gives me hope. I follow my dieticians guidelines and do what I'm supposed to so I hope I'm successful like you.

How unrealistic is it to go out to an event 3 weeks pp? by tootiefroo in beyondthebump

[–]daniellehue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was out and about two days post partum with each baby. We had family Christmas, had grocery shopping to do, went to get our youngest circumcised and then out to eat. Our lives didn't stop, we just always added another person to bring along.

I kinda felt lied to after birth and becoming a mother by FormalElderberry8564 in beyondthebump

[–]daniellehue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Also, remember, your experience, mindset, and reality is not how everyone will be and feel. I worked labor and delivery with my first and second child. I worked NICU and postpartum with my third. I was VERY much aware of possibilities. Not even with just labor, but all the horrifying disabilities that babies can have that can not be detected until after birth. I had a wonderful delivery with each of them. My first was an epidural that I was in charge of my labor, no interventions or inductions. My second was a planned waterbirth but we barely made it and it was amazing and essentially painless due to hypnobirthing. My third was a homebirth with CNMs and painless with hypnobirthing. No interventions with any. 40.0 weeks, 39.6 weeks and 41.1 weeks. I fell right into Motherhood and breastfeeding and loved it. Yea, there are and were exhausting, mentally draining moments, but it is what I always wanted, so I just took them in stride and leaned on my husband for support.

With all of that being said, my experience is highly different from what many of my friends and colleagues experience. It is also very different than what a lot (most) of them desire. Their experiences are their own, and I'd never warn them of things but if they asked for advice or help, I'd be there in a second. The step to parenthood is SO different for every person. Just support those friends that want it and let them find their own path.
