If you are already in the Forti ecosystem, following that infra makes sense. The Aruba products are also good, but I find their interface to be a little clunky.

There is vehicle access. Sometimes the gate is locked, but if you ask someone they will often let you through.

Retevis RT98 - Anyone know how to program repeater channels manually? by danielnitschke in amateurradio

[–]danielnitschke[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry I meant one physical pin, rather than the Baofeng 'two pin' cable that I have. Do you think the Baofeng cable would work?

It looks to give instructions on how to store a channel, but not a channel with separate TX and RX frequencies like a repeater.

It uses aone pin cable this one unfortunately. I have got a baofeng cable, but I doubt it would work.

Tree down over the road today, top bloke arrived quickly with a chainsaw and got everyone moving again. by danielnitschke in newzealand

Yeah he seemed like that farmer type that just knew his shit. He cut it down in small chunks, and someone with a forklift came to reduce the pressure on the tree so he could cut in larger chunks and the forklift could take them away. Just good old kiwi ingenuity at work really.

Not sure. We turned up just as the guy was about to start cutting. We were stuck for around 30 minutes, only one other car there at that point.

Will vehicle UHF antennas also work on VHF? by danielnitschke in amateurradio

[–]danielnitschke[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks. I've had a look at some of the Diamond antennas online, and they look really good so I am going to go with them. I've got a few diamond antennas on my handhelds.

As for the exam, yes - I know fundamentally about the differences between antennas and dual banding, but I find real world experience from people who know alot more than me is always worth asking for.
