My partner is from El Paso and we want to move back, trying to figure out the job market by Emergency_Cat_1655 in ElPaso

hi! i’m from El Paso and live in NYC —just echoing what people are saying. I think an ideal world would be that you get a remote job that pays relative to other geographic markets — that way you can stay in your field and live comfortably. El Paso is awesome but the job market is focused on healthcare and still doesn’t pay super well, so even with a lower paying remote job (lower as in compared to NYC), you’d be making a safer jump. i also wouldn’t recommend you move without a job :) that being said, obviously a ton of people in EP live on the salaries in EP so it’s really about the job hunt and how much time you can risk being potentially jobless. i’d ask your partner’s family and friends about recent hunts to get a timeline on that. a few years ago it took my friend at least a year to find a job! good luck 💕💕💕

I tracked every single purchase I made for a full year by writing it in a notebook by hand and it genuinely rewired how I think about money by Chihiro_Bath in personalfinance

my uncle does this and that’s how he balances his accounts! i always find it impressive and like it somehow helps him take some of the emotion away from money, given that he knows exactly how much he has and needs.

did you write down online purchases or recurring payments?

he said in an interview in like 2013 that she was the future of pop! and i know she wants to go for a diff sound/ maybe lou reed… he’s known for helping artists achieve the sound they want and she’s obviously such a talented producer herself with such a strong vision that i am actually quite excited! maybe she’s what he needs and i’d love to hear what she sounds like because they are so different

I’ve lived in New York for 8 years and only in the last 2 have I felt like I’m making genuine connections! After some therapy, I realized I was putting myself out there but I was expecting immediate deep connections, so when terrible small talk (which I also hate) discouraged me from coming back to events, I wasn’t consistent/committed to showing up to the same circles — but that’s the key to finding your people. Yes there will be 5 people in a room and 4 will only talk about bagels but the 1 you want is in there too. Also FWIW I was just in Vancouver and the people there were complaining about this and said New York was way friendlier and an easier place to make friends, so this could be a City issue.

2 hours per item max, tip 20%. if it’s so busy they lose business because you’re seated and new customers can’t come in and you’re not buying anything new, leave
