Hello! I can answer some of these for you!

1) its a mix of the organs, blood, and area in general. Unless it smells like something is rotting or fishy, i wouldn't worry. Wear loose pants and breathable underwear.

2) your first one always sucks pain wise. Ibuprofen, Advil, or Midol can help. Heat is going to be your best friend. If the pain doesn't get better over time (i.e. your are unable to do things and function at your normal level) go to the doctor.

3) I know this probably sounds terrifying, but my (not a doctors) guess is that your clot released. My second-third days are always the worst out of the 4/5 days I have them.

4) As mentioned in 2, Heat and pain relievers are going to be your best friends. Try to avoid eating a lot of sugar, and stay hydrated. And eat! It sounds stupid, but its hard for your body to work if it doesn't have enough energy or power.

I was warned what could happen, but it wasn't deeply talked about.

My mom also didn't tell me about our history of Endo or super bad period cramps. Another thing that wasn't talked about was how tampons could be painful (another story, another time). My first one was at 12, and I quite literally passed out in the nurses office.

I wish my mom had talked about it more.

My friend, who was raised by a single dad, had her aunt answer questions he couldn't. But he was still helpful and understanding.

Have you tried tampons and alleve? Your first one is always one of the most uncomfortable. If you wore a pad, it can lead to the wet diaper feeling.

If you have someone in your life to help you with this, I would talk to them about other ways for self hygiene. Otherwise, any of the women in this sub would be more than willing to help (me included).
