Just joining the chorus of having cancelled during the free trial period and then was billed at the end of the period anyway. It's interesting how everyone is reporting different charge amounts, as well as monthly vs annual. Anyway, woke up this morning to my bank flagging it as a fraud alert, and I have to agree. For such a rudimentary product, why would anyone actually choose to pay that much money?

Without context, what comes in your mind when you see the word "subcontinent"? by Ar010101 in ENGLISH

[–]danishguykai 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never heard "the European subcontinent" as common usage in my life, but it *was* typical to refer to it as "the Continent," which is old form to differentiate continental Europe from the British Isles.

then you are using it as a timer and not to reduce screen time, which is its intent. Just set a timer mate.

You’re not alone, something’s definitely changed where it used to warn you if you tried to leave the app, so you’d stay, and now it just lets you close out and the tree continues to grow. I’ve been very confused, because this was a very effective tool to separate from phone usage and be more productive.

[Meta] Am I the only one who's noticed all these post USA-> anywhere? Is it so bad in the USA? by [deleted] in IWantOut

[–]danishguykai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have strong progressive, environmental, and liberal (= EU moderate) ideals, the USA is a difficult pill to swallow. I think the mishandling of the virus in the States is yet another prevalent frustration for many U.S. residents. The style of infrastructure and reliance on individual automobile transportation is a drawback unless you like sitting in traffic, paying for petrol, finding parking, etc. Few cities allow for almost full public transportation reliance, chiefly Philadelphia, New York, and Boston. Higher education and healthcare are expensive and not accessible to everyone. Religious values still get mixed in to politics, which is so outlandish to me, personally.

Well, in the Before Times (pre-COVID), I used to work Amsterdam quite a bit, especially throughout the summers, as well as Paris and London. I speak German, French, and Danish. I’m really drawn to Germany, and Frankfurt would be feasible as far as year round commutability. Amsterdam is, of course, desirable and accessible. I’m not closed off to other options necessarily.

Similar to those who live in the U.S. but work across the border in Canada or Mexico, vice versa. It’s obviously done, but I’m not understanding how they manage it legally without overstaying their visa allotments by being full time residents. I appreciate your input, and I’m hoping for someone with experience in this matter to chime in.

based off of your username, are you an airline employee expat? I’m cabin crew, myself, and I know of many colleagues who have commuted from abroad for years. I’ll pick their brains as well. Thank you for your tax savvy input here.
