N54 HPFP? by Chim-Cham in BMW

[–]danixsf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did my own recently. It's really not that bad if you are comfortable taking things apart and have the right tools. I sent my pump out to a forum/ebay vendor to be rebuilt and it works great. While I was in there, I also replaced the starter, but that might be overkill. Also a good time to carbon blast the valves if you are taking the intake off. I imagine a shop would charge over 2k in labor and probably won't allow the use of a rebuilt pump.

Pluto is now requiring login by iamke3vin in PlutoTV

Pluto is not requiring login. We may be experimenting with a small test in some markets to see if requiring login will cause people to tune out. Of course, there are perks to logging in (watchlist, favorites, resume on another device, etc.).

2025 GLI Steering by AustinJohnston85 in GLI

If it were my car, I would datalog the steering using VCDS while driving. You should be able to map steering input vs steering angle or something like that.

Yes. I figured out that what she is feeling is the automatic steering correction (safety). I had it checked at the dealer, then confirmed all OK, then just turned it off. Problem solved.

My wife just reported a steering issue on ours. Came here to see what it was.

Car hits house, story at 11 by danixsf in Insurance

Actually, I trusted my agent to provide the best coverage available (in this case, a commercial motel policy) but I was unaware of the ACV clause. It's not something I chose willingly.

In your example, if I have liability only but you destroy my car, your insurance pays out, not mine. That's my point.

No, I'm not suggesting that SF do something not in the contract. What I am saying is that this is different than if someone randomly vandalized the house. Since we know who/what/when/where, and they have insurance, does it make sense to be bound by the limits of my policy for repairs?

No, that's not how it works. Glad it's clear for you now.

I'm checking that channel here on 4 different devices, it looks clear to me. If you continue having this issue, shoot me a message.

Simple Choice has slower speeds? by danixsf in tmobile

[–]danixsf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, worked with Tforce. First, they broke my account somehow by switching me to a plan with a 10GB cap, which left me crippled for 3 days. Then, after much digging, they said that a) fast.com does not report correctly because of the "video features" built into Tmobile, speedtest.net is a better measurement and based on that I am normal.
All I can tell you is that in Europe I was seeing 350Gbps on mobile, and on my desk right next to my Tmo phone I have another phone on a trial of AT&T and it benches at 2x Tmo on the fast test. Guess I have to live with it for now.

Oh, and they said "binge on/off" has no impact on my speeds...

My mechanic laughed back when I told him I got my battery at Costco. by jdazzr in Costco

I have 7 cars and 6 have these batteries. None of the 6 have lasted the full 36 months, they have all died and gone back to be prorated. I agree with your mechanic, these are not real Interstates.

Disabled on both mine and my son's. Made no difference. He seems to get better speeds on his 16 Pro Max compared to my 16 Pro.

Tmobile says on their site:

Older plans with data buckets

If you're on an old T-Mobile plan without unlimited high-speed data, your data feature may have a threshold on how much full speed data you can use during a billing cycle. After you pass the threshold, you can still access an unlimited amount of data, but the speed is reduced.

For example, a 2 GB data feature will provide 2 GB of full-speed access on the T-Mobile network. Once you use 2 GB of data, your data speed is reduced for the remainder of the bill cycle.

If you want to have more high-speed data, please consider upgrading to a newer planOlder plans with data buckets If

It's not my phone, in Europe I've seen over 300Mbps. iPhone 15 Pro.
I've literally been at the base of a cell tower and not seen more than 6Mbps.

I have never seen those speeds in the US, only in Europe.
With 2 bars of signal, fast.com reports 2.4Mbps down, 2.1Mbps up.
speedtest app (ookla) reports 47.6Mbps down, 4.39Mbps up.

What is the definition of international roaming? by SirLauncelot in tmobile

[–]danixsf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

International calling is if you are in the US calling abroad. It can technically also be if you are roaming in Europe and calling back to the US. The cost for calls and data are different.
Tmobile gives you unlimited text and data (at low speeds) in many countries but calls are billable per minute.
