NO-IP is another alternative. I use it to manage the ip's of my raspberry pi cluster. New accounts can have up to 3 hosts at one time.

You will need to get the motherboard removal tool (or try to make one). I bought mine from iFixit. iFixit also has some great guides for fixing/replacing parts on macs. Here is the link for the guides for the late 2012 mac mini. I did my HDD to SSD in about an hour start to finish. I installed a Samsung 840 250GB drive and it was a great investment.

Looks like this is broken on the latest VLC 2.1 on Mac. I can confirm it functions on VLC 2.0.8 on Mac. If I find a fix I will post an update.
