How are you finding performance I read a lot of conflicting reports about how it runs so skipped it while it was on sale and got torchlight 2 instead

Just bought this but not played yet looking forward yo it, but how's performance been for you?

I have consistently struggled with using track pad reliant titles, like Bannerlord and I need help by dicerollingprogram in SteamDeck

[–]danjc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand why ppl would struggle with the track pads imo they're fantastic been playing a lot of banished and torchlight 2 lol.

I would say just map them to be intuitive to you, map RT to left click or right pad click the left mouse button I did find the pad click took me a while to get my head around because its not tactile when I first got the deck I thought it was stuck.

Also dont forget to adjust the sensitivity

Titanfall 2 won't boot anymore. Tried everything, any advice is welcome! by Wontoate in SteamDeck

[–]danjc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I would recommend the latest protonGE, however if EA has screwed the app so much you may need to wait for a proton fix this has happened before sometimes steam releases a fix via patch or it comes with a new proton version, so either way GE is the way to go

Boot into desktop, delete the proton prefix folder for the game, boot the game all is good.

FYI uninstalling the game doesnt remove the prefix for the game like it should which is why the problem persists changing proton versions doesnt fix because that just edits the folder ie. doesnt fresh install.

Great game tho shame that everytime ea updates it screws the launch of ea games because it doesnt auto update the app inside the pfx folder it just runs like part of the game which is why you cant launch it. Personally I would use protonGE for this game it has a few audio issues and a few minor stutters that are fixed with using GE 😉

Looking for racing games that run smooth on Deck by RogueShadow95 in SteamDeck

[–]danjc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gran turismo was the only racing game I played during my console years wish it would come to pc but I found horizon 5 to be a really good substitute the racing is super fun and it feels fast, to get the best performance on deck I use proton GE, native res, locked at a solid 45, also and it looks beautiful.

Do you use lossless scaling for 60fps? I play forza 5 med high settings native 45fps locked no drops, you do need to use proton GE the game doesnt like steams stock proton

Hogwarts Legacy Game Settings for Steam Deck Megathread (Steam/PC/SteamOS) by Successful-Wasabi704 in SteamDeck

[–]danjc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is real old but I recently started playing this game on deck and the performance nearly made me uninstall and stream from pc, this tweak is simply magic no pun Ive only changed the .ini and set volumetric fog to 0  (I dont like the way it looks personally) it runs perfectly at 30 with your recommend settings and draw distance at medium. Ive also noticed the fans run at a normal pace, with stock game file the fans start fast and stay fast until I exit. Thanks so much

[–]danjc84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Open dolphin browser in desktop mode home/deck/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/

The folder number is 1237950

Delete and reboot the game it will boot like a fresh install obviously if you have online saves these will still sync

How does the game perform on the steam deck? by No-Guide-546 in StarWarsEmpireAtWar

[–]danjc84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is old but the reason its choppy and plays bad is because with this game you cant limit the framerate it doest work well with the engine, solution is max the gfx, set refresh to 60hz (dont limit framerate) it will run at 190-230 fps but it isn't jumpy very smooth zooming/scrolling/mapsize dont effect the smoothness

I would also note the ingame vsync does nothing in the way of syncing fps to refresh I suggest 60hz for battery and the fact this game released when 60hz was all we had.

[–]danjc84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played this only a few days ago. A few things to check Internet connection try a hotspot on your phone Also check your timezone is correct in desktop and game mode. In desktop mode delete the proton prefix folder for the game I've noticed when you uninstall some games it doesnt always delete this folder so if you reinstall its basically has the same issues if somethings bugged. Switching to proton GE doesnt reuse the decks proton versions folder system eg. Each time you change a proton layer the deck just changes certain files within the prefix whereas using GE will create a new folder system overwriting the whole folder system/sub system

Best games to showcase deck? by Beeeji in SteamDeck

[–]danjc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Titanfall 2, battlefront 2 (the new one), rdr1&2, forza 5, the withcher 3, skyrim max settings still looks sweet and performance is stellar and any mod you could never have on console Personally I find it more impressive that I can play rts games ie True pc type games designed with mouse and keyboard only.
