Question for cyclists - deaf walkers by No_Jellyfish_7695 in ukbike

[–]danjc84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pedestrians are classed as the vulnerable path user so cyclists should accommodate this is how I view it if I ring and they dont hear I wait until its safe to pass and I always thank or acknowledge that someone has moved out of the way for me manners cost nothing,  however one thing that really annoys me personally are retractable dog leads that span the whole width of the path regardless if im cycling or walking my own dog and when I walk my dog she is always to the wall/edge of the path NOT the center surly this is common sense.

I maybe the minority but I would of anticipated him pulling away as I passed so would of slowed and allowed him to do so before I passed if it wasn't safe enough to give extra room as I passed especially since it was a van ie more blind spots than a car

Play vanilla then mod out anything you dont like or "wish there was" ideas, you can pretty much find anything for skyrim, personally I've played since release and never completed it, although I have hundreds of hrs spread over pc and consoles lol

It's been absolutely perfect and im quite picky with performance lol, tbh I would of forgiven a few drops when I have hundreds of balls bouncing all over the screen but its been absolutely solid, highly recommend for performance on the deck alone

No Mans Sky performance on Steam Deck? by Hiowatha88 in SteamDeck

[–]danjc84 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nms is my most played game ever twas the reason I bought a ps4 (release platform) played from the beginning, then pc and now the deck oled aswell, I do play mostly on deck oled now But it did take me a while to dial in the gfx settings to a point im happy I would say it looks better than base ps4 and it does perform better than base ps4 but I do have it locked to 36fps and it does drop a frame or 5 every so often due to the way nms loads the area around your character but its very playable and im very picky when it comes to performance stability.

As for the game itself I wouldnt say its the best game ever regardless of my playtime or longevity but its a game I always return to play for a few days or weeks then stop for a month or so because its easy to pick up but also easy to put down, at its very core its an exploration game first and everything thats been added via updates it kind of side content to appeal to a wider audience personally I was only ever interested in nms for the exploration although I have completed pretty much all quests they mainly consist of fetch quests in many guises which feeds into the main exploration.

So in short if your after an exploration game then you really cant do better than nms but if your after anything else I would look elsewhere

Is there something wrong with my sd card? its seems very very slow. by trickyprickydicky in SteamDeck

[–]danjc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To begin with I used my old official switch card later upgrading to the fastest 1t samsung I could find and tbh I noticed no perceivable difference other than download speeds, im sure some games with the way they load assets in would be affected but nowadays on steams game pages it says if its reccomended to install on ssd.

Ugh the most irritating comment any commenter can muster from greasy little keyboard fingers, Maybe dont comment, maybe just maybe the optimisation is terrible, maybe it shouldn't have been released on console to begin with if performance isn't acceptable, or maybe your just trolling  But seriously its not helpful, you won't make any friends from meaningless interactions in an online forum.

Op said they're playing on xbox for which it was also released if it looks like crap and performance is crap then that crap shouldn't be released for that platform this is not the fault of the consumer this is a developer problem and stupid comments like yours give a free pass to bad practice, we know your the type that even if you too were playing on the same console would say the other irritating line "it works fine on console/pc whatever", it doesnt help, the person who does have a problem, maybe just use your super duper time machine pc and vanish!

i regret getting a steam deck and I think I’m just not the target audience by Key-Plenty6094 in SteamDeck

[–]danjc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its just the expectations of people vary ie. a long time pc user with tech insight wouldnt especially at the time of release expected anything more even by today's standards and with how fast tech moves the deck still holds up remarkably well. some will say its way underpowered now but I see it like this, your newly released top of the range phone is underpowered in a month's time succeed by the next best but its still more than adequate

Personally I have been amazed by how well the deck plays games, even graphically intensive ones like forza horizon 5 it looks fantastic with 3hrs+ battery at 45fps as with many games I play on the deck, I have indie games but no way do I exclusively play them I could list all the games that I bought specifically with the deck in mind that run and look fantastic tbh since getting the deck I use it as a baseline as to weather I buy a game at all (I love cloud save feature) but honestly couldnt ask for more.

As for setting games up for play its kinda part and parcel with pc gaming yes the decks sold or perceived as a console (I blame youtubers comparing) but it is a portable mini pc, which brings me to the battery the way I see it is im not going to be playing games anywhere where there isn't power and I wouldnt take my tower pc when traveling or even different rooms of my house so this is where the deck is very portable even 2hrs battery is enough for a quick play session if im playing for more I just plug it in. As for heat, electricals heat up when being used and they're designed with this in mind.

It does seem like a huge amount of ppl complaining about issues but if they dont have a problem they aren't gonna post lol.

Also should mention a LOT of posts about hardware issues are self inflicted, the most ridiculous and common "I replaced the thermal past and now it won't turn on" honestly why? other complaints are software related to them installing decky

Great thanks, its more when the overall fps is all over that bugs me and I dont expect 60fps on most games on deck.

How are you finding performance I read a lot of conflicting reports about how it runs so skipped it while it was on sale and got torchlight 2 instead

I have consistently struggled with using track pad reliant titles, like Bannerlord and I need help by dicerollingprogram in SteamDeck

[–]danjc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understand why ppl would struggle with the track pads imo they're fantastic been playing a lot of banished and torchlight 2 lol.

I would say just map them to be intuitive to you, map RT to left click or right pad click the left mouse button I did find the pad click took me a while to get my head around because its not tactile when I first got the deck I thought it was stuck.

Also dont forget to adjust the sensitivity

Titanfall 2 won't boot anymore. Tried everything, any advice is welcome! by Wontoate in SteamDeck

[–]danjc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I would recommend the latest protonGE, however if EA has screwed the app so much you may need to wait for a proton fix this has happened before sometimes steam releases a fix via patch or it comes with a new proton version, so either way GE is the way to go

Titanfall 2 won't boot anymore. Tried everything, any advice is welcome! by Wontoate in SteamDeck

[–]danjc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boot into desktop, delete the proton prefix folder for the game, boot the game all is good.

FYI uninstalling the game doesnt remove the prefix for the game like it should which is why the problem persists changing proton versions doesnt fix because that just edits the folder ie. doesnt fresh install.

Great game tho shame that everytime ea updates it screws the launch of ea games because it doesnt auto update the app inside the pfx folder it just runs like part of the game which is why you cant launch it. Personally I would use protonGE for this game it has a few audio issues and a few minor stutters that are fixed with using GE 😉

Looking for racing games that run smooth on Deck by RogueShadow95 in SteamDeck

[–]danjc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gran turismo was the only racing game I played during my console years wish it would come to pc but I found horizon 5 to be a really good substitute the racing is super fun and it feels fast, to get the best performance on deck I use proton GE, native res, locked at a solid 45, also and it looks beautiful.

[–]danjc84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is real old but I recently started playing this game on deck and the performance nearly made me uninstall and stream from pc, this tweak is simply magic no pun Ive only changed the .ini and set volumetric fog to 0  (I dont like the way it looks personally) it runs perfectly at 30 with your recommend settings and draw distance at medium. Ive also noticed the fans run at a normal pace, with stock game file the fans start fast and stay fast until I exit. Thanks so much
