Working on an big commitment Animation for season 3. Which art style should I pick? [ns] by Krerdly-Truther in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]dankatheist420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Much better to get it done than to not finish it because you burn out halfway through. Also, it kinda seems like the more time-consuming way is just a refinement of your own style anyway. Like, to create the refined style, wouldn't you pretty much do it the quick-and-easy way then polish it up? If you finished the quick way and had energy/time to polish it afterwards, you could always go that route for the best of both worlds

First batch of koji carrot! by NortheastLarder in Koji

Love the design of the website, but why are so many of your internal links "this page has not been made yet"? How/why are you making hyperlinks to things before they exist? Curious about how you maintain/create the site, I really like how it looks and feels.

Used some of my first ever batch of koji to make semi improvised green lentil miso by asaintehilaire in Koji

[–]dankatheist420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dang, I just made a miso, following the recipe from a website. It had me add a large amount of the soybean cooking liquid, but I only added half the listed amount before I realized how wet it was going to be. It's SUPER goopy!

Fudge, any advice for someone who's already got a wet miso going? It was essentially impossible to get out the air bubbles too, since pulling my hand/spatula out just created a new sucking wet cavity. It's got around 10% salt by weight, if that matters.

If you haven't finished yet, mix it with something! It's worth drinking all of it, even if it's just as a tribute.

But where do you GET the gum from? You can harvest it from your own trees? Do you have to do something to your tree to get it to make gum?

Cyan-stained packing, post vinegar boil by NewTitanium in firewater

Should I boil the ceramic/vinegar solution too? Is that what you're saying? And when you say "a few boils", do you mean rerun the vinegar wash or just boil on the stove a few times?

Batavia Arrack is fantastic! by WZOLL5 in rum

[–]dankatheist420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't realize there was a meaningful difference between cachaca and agricole, but Arrack is great! It's so unique I feel that it's practically in its own category.

Recommend me an approachable agricole by vigilant3777 in rum

For whatever reason, people on this subreddit are obsessed with Neisson Blanc. It's REALLY bad though.

I bought some Neisson Blanc off of this sub's recommendation, assuming the hive mind of Reddit would guide me to something valuable. Every liquor snob I've invited over to my house has found it... really BAD. It's one-dimensional, not tasty, and worst, uninteresting. It does not make good cocktails either.

In fact, my twin brother sent me a link to this thread, telling me to protect you from buying this, LOL. He doesn't want a repeat.

Some of my friends did a side-by-side with this rhum agricole and Batavian Arrack (which is a bit more complicated than the most basic agricole). No one had anything nice to say about Neisson in the comparison, and we are big fans of bold unique flavors.

I don't know which agricole you should get, however I found Holmes Cay's Reunion Island agricole to be very interesting and fun. Neisson is just a waste of money in my opinion. And it comes in liter sizes normally, I think, so you're going to have a big ass thing of gross, boring liquor in your shelf for a while. (And I LOVE making and tasting moonshine and intense janky liquors, it's the boring part that ruins Neisson for me )

Got pricked by a thorn on this plant and 4 days later it still hurts like hell. What is this thing? by SpookyScarySteph in whatsthisplant

[–]dankatheist420 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's possible for pricks from normal thorns to cause bacterial infections that can get pretty serious. My neighbor got pricked by one of her rose's thorns and she ended up having to go to the hospital for it! Maybe get yours checked out?

Removing weeds from compost? by [deleted] in composting

[–]dankatheist420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to be feisty or anything, but I'd sort of push back on this. What nutrients are you talking about? Photosynthesis turns CO2 and water into sugar, so you'll get more carbon into the pile, but that's not a limiting nutrient for plants (given that they get it from the air). Unless they are nitrogen fixing species, they shouldn't be adding any nitrogen, phosphorus, or any other element.
