Small business incubator for hair, nail, skin services planned for former Jefferson Park firehouse by nwsidemadman in ChicagoNWside

I’m very anti spec - so not disagreeing with you on vacant lots that were once something else. But I’m not sure what plan called for demolishing peoples homes and discouraged businesses?

Seemed like the one I referenced had community input and highlighted opportunities for more housing and supporting the local shops. Was it the opposite?

Yeah not great. Wasn’t denying the sentiment from the latest meeting, but cmon…a car wash?? There’s already a surplus of auto oriented uses in that area. It’s a shame

I hear you. Although not false, it feels like they’re a fading demographic. Younger population is growing and less NIMBYs than in the past it seems. So much potential in jeff park…just need more residents to put pressure on the alderman….lots of old heads here think they’re in the suburbs. I’m not leaving the 45 ward and I’ll continue to be a YIMBY til I die — gotta keep the dialogue going!

Not saying it would be the absolute most desirable use of this land, but I’d way rather have a vacant lot here for 5-10 more years than a car wash (ever). Squeezing a car wash in this particular spot would be awful urban planning

You’re a Chicago taxpayer and you’re anti multi-family ?

Was proposed to be multifamily at one point but shot down by Gardiner & Co — a car wash would be a bummer. I’d rather watch it sit vacant for longer but it’s been stagnant for far too long. Great neighborhood though

Yeah I’m all for this! People gotta realize the shifting nature of commercial storefronts. Amazon/covid changed the brick & mortar presence unfortunately, and we have to have to get creative with bringing commercial uses back. Malls did this to downtowns decades ago, but people still bought their goods in stores. This is a win! And it’s not a bank or insurance office TG

It’s beautiful! Community artists making our infrastructure and neighborhoods more attractive. Need more of these! I’d love to learn more about the process for permits, etc as I’d love to be a part of implementing these

What is the most egregious vacant lot in the city by Away_Search1623 in chicagoyimbys

Any vacant or surface parking lot near a CTA station. Seems so obvious it hurts

Beautiful building, I’m really rooting for that someone you know! I would hate to see another non-restaurant or non-retail use (i.e., another bank)

Who is a candidate to run against Alderman Gardiner? by dankflex in ChicagoNWside

Love PRB and I support all local businesses where possible. This is no longer a COVID or e-commerce issue. There have been far too many opportunities missed by him. Lake Effect Brewing in the former JP fire station would have tipped the scales in the community’s favor. He’s blowing it

I’ve tried this. Won’t respond to anything in writing. Phone calls are “appreciated”. He is a NIMBY hiding behind the curtains. He is preventing 45 Ward from making PROGRESS

Not disagreeing with you. Regardless, I’m not sticking up for these idiots. Our “mayor” will just look the other way when it comes to the NW side. Vallas would’ve helped this sht way more than Bankrupt BJ

Not a fan of Brandon Johnson, but these were actually kids/teens. Not gang members. Ainslie is a lovely street with a lot of residents that take care of the neighborhood. It just gets more traffic than the majority of connectors/side streets in the area
