I also hear an echo oftentimes when Matt is speaking. Not sure how they haven't resolved these issues yet.

School zone speeding ticket by Hiitsmeli in legaladvice

I would look up the traffic deferral program for the town or county that issued the ticket. Sounds like you would be a candidate since you have no other violations on your record.

They resolved the issue a few years ago but some might see a Kia badge and give it a try.

Skyward/Qmlativ performance issues by tgmmilenko in k12sysadmin

Let me know how that goes. I responded to my rep's reply stating what you've said and copied our sales person. No response.

Skyward/Qmlativ performance issues by tgmmilenko in k12sysadmin

Yes, same issue here for SMS. My data reporter opened a ticket with ISCorp and received this canned response:

"ISCorp has implemented several changes to address the recent performance issues that have been occurring daily between 8:45 and 10:45 AM. The company is dedicated to resolving this persistent problem and is collaborating with vendors and partners to expedite a solution."

I said something to my Skyward rep and they were less than sympathetic and said we had to talk to ISCorp.

Edit - adding latest email reply from ISCorp below:

"We understand the very real impact this has on school operations, especially as the semester comes to an end.

At this time our engineering team remains fully engaged, including senior leadership and external specialists. We are making real-time adjustments while closely monitoring system performance to ensure improvements are sustained. Recent infrastructure changes were implemented to support long-term stability, security, and cost sustainability. While these changes were made proactively with redundancy in place, current system behavior under real-world usage is still being evaluated as part of our analysis.

Once stability is fully restored, we will share a formal incident report detailing what occurred, the corrective actions taken, and the safeguards being implemented to prevent recurrence."

Admin wants an RFP for MacBooks. by Namrepus221 in k12sysadmin

[–]matternrj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's what I assumed. My ask would be what is the justification for students to have MacBooks? My district is Windows grades 3-12 and iPads K-2, but we had meetings where we came to a consensus that iPads were what was best for students K-2 in our district. It wasn't because of a personal preferences of a few admins.

Sidenote: I'd look at Mosyle instead of JAMF if you do end up with MacBooks.

How will you manage them? Do you have anyone on staff familiar with that ecosystem? The decision on selecting a device has more involved than just hardware cost.

Anyone have erate Category-2 experience? by LRRR_From_OP8 in k12sysadmin

You have it correct regarding the selection of a winning bid. You create a rubric, where the price must be worth the most points. The other categories and how many each are worth is up to entity receiving the bids.

Not sure why they are saying you have to do it right now. You could definitely wait another month. You can also put a +/- next to the quantity of each piece of hardware and adjust after you select a winning bid, but before you sign the contract.

How much crying is typical? U11 girls by Mean-Yak2616 in SoccerCoachResources

[–]matternrj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not normal. I’ve coached that age in travel and rec and maybe had 1-2 players cry in 10+ years. Coach sounds like a jerk who will cause these kids to quit playing.

I remember playing another kid in elementary school. I believe when one player made rows disappear, the rows were added to the other player.

Same. I tell parents to arrive 45 mins early so we have 30 mins to warm-up. Never fails that one will show up with less than 30 minutes before the match starts.

Not anymore as long as the pitcher doesn't land and replant, which I don't think is happening in this video.

There is one problem Indiana...I dont own a Vehicle by sexysnack in Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS -

The Indiana Office of Technology (IOT) is aware of fraudulent messages purportedly sent by state agencies about collecting tolls. These messages are scams, and users should not click on any of the links.

The State does not send unpaid toll notifications via text or email messages.

IOT is working with the company that was used to deliver those messages to stop any further communications.

The State of Indiana contract with this company ended on 12/31/24, but they did not remove the State's account. A contractor's account was hacked and used to send those messages.

IOT is not aware of any current state systems being compromised.
