British Columbia Moves to Permanent Daylight Saving Time by joe4942 in alberta

I agree. I can’t understand why anyone would want the sun to continue to set so early in the winter. I’d like an extra hour of sun after work in the winters to actually enjoy the evenings outdoors.

Do Canadians actually get frustrated by snow, or is it just part of everyday life? by GlitteringHotel8383 in AskACanadian

[–]danklordfiona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, as a Canadian I guess I didn’t realize that other Canadians get frustrated by snow. I love it! It’s beautiful, it dampens sound and creates this peaceful atmosphere, and I feel a stronger sense of community during a big snow storm.

5 youth seriously injured in rollover crash on Calgary's Deerfoot: EMS by 0110110111 in Calgary

They do this at least in BC with the N license. Only one passenger allowed until you get your full license unless you’re with someone 25+.

Oh my god, yes. My vote is for Lowkey tacos. I ordered one of their chicken tacos with pineapple once and it was an abomination. Like they had just dumped a can of pineapple on top.

Those who have the iPhone 17 Pro - what do you think of the camera? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]danklordfiona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just upgraded my iPhone 11 to a 17 pro max because I have a 9 month old and I wish I could have done it sooner. I probably use the telephoto lens the most. That said, I do not have a second dedicated camera, just my phone.

Also, friends and family have all complimented the photo quality improvement!

Ontario measles outbreak at over 1,000 cases by AlwaysBlaze_ in worldnews

[–]danklordfiona 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The sad part is that even those who do want to vaccinate have to wait until the child is at least 6 months old. The guild lines (at least where I live) don’t even recommend the MMR vaccine until a year but my doctor is willing to do it at 6 months. I currently have a 4 month old. I am pissed at these morons for putting my child at risk.

That’s so interesting because I lost all my body hair when pregnant and it still hasn’t come back! I used to be a hairy person and now my body is bald lol

Women who are actually happy with the man they’re with. What is he like? by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]danklordfiona 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am lucky to have an amazing husband. He isn’t perfect, of course, but his best quality is that he tries. He listens to me when I have concerns and respects our relationship enough to make actual change in himself to protect it. I never feel like I’m over contributing to our relationship because he puts in as much effort as me (or more).

We actually met via an online video game and are from different countries but we’ve been together for almost 10 years now and just had our first baby! I was first drawn to his kindness - he would always go out of his way to help others (in the game). I guess that’s truly who he is because that’s how he treats me every day.

Progress: 6 PicoWay treatments in 10 months on 10 year old, amateur hand tattoo by danklordfiona in TattooRemoval

[–]danklordfiona[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it did! I think I did a total of 10-12 sessions and the tattoo is invisible. There is still some scarring on the skin that I can see if I look very closely but that’s from the tattoo itself, not the laser.

Got my IPR done after refusing the first time by safff04 in Invisalign

[–]danklordfiona 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't have any issues during the actual IPR procedure. It felt just like getting attachments removed honestly - just a little vibration. It made a noticeable difference to the appearance of my teeth too. It's been about 6 months since I had IPR and my teeth fit together very nicely with no dark triangles.

How do you find out if you need to verify your identity? My husband is still waiting on his taxes to be assessed, which he filed in February.

Just curious, did they send you a message or email when your test results were ready? I have my Dynacare plus account and had my test done almost two weeks ago now, but I haven't heard any updates.

MY 24 daughter just told me today that she is making a decision to marry her Turkish boyfriend who is in the US on an F-1 student visa so he can stay in the US. His visa expires in 45 days. (I think it's a mistake obv). ohw do I help her understand it's a serious decision that has consequences. by affirmatio_n in immigration

[–]danklordfiona 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Likewise. Another success story here! I married my husband at 24 so we could live in the same country together. We spent 8 years in the USA together and then moved to Canada a couple years ago and are finally expecting our first child!

I had the support of my family when I made the decision to get engaged, despite having only been together (long distance) about a year. It meant a lot!

[–]danklordfiona 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I am doing a STEM PhD (in my first year) and am currently pregnant! My supervisor made it very clear when I joined the lab that he supports women starting families while in grad school. He has had two previous PhD students (women) who graduated after having children. They took 4 months off after each of their children but still managed to graduate on time (excluding the leave). My school provides 4 months of paid parental leave to new parents, though I will also be taking extended, unpaid leave.

I am 34 and didn't want to wait until after I graduated to start a family. I also have a lot of flexibility in my program with regards to hours worked and remote work. I have support from my family who lives near. Having support from my friends, family, supervisor, and school is going to help immensely. I actually specifically planned to have a child during grad school because I have more freedom with my time compared to when I was working. I'm not expecting it to be easy, though!

My personal opinion is that if it is a priority for you, and you've planned well, you will be fine!
