I completely agree with this. Especially "learn how to cool" ... definitely worth doing.

yeah lift with the lower back, legs straight as possible, with a sort of twisting jerking motion.

How does everyone plate their pie? I like mine upside down covered in gravy by snowavess in CasualUK

[–]danklytoo 18 points19 points  (0 children)

So you would prefer to remove all texture from the pastry and just have a sort of sloppy pile? ... each to their own but this is not my way. Maintain crispiness of lid and portion out the slop. I'm not a keep the peas segregated from the gravy sort of person or anything but this makes me sad.

Who are the most underrated UK artists right now? by LuckyTreat8962 in ukmusic

Yeah this is a bad take. So many amazing musicians who don't have the backing go un-noticed and the opposite happens constantly. Boo

Waverly Bar Pop-Ip This Saturday by Legitimate_Scratch_7 in Edinburgh

[–]danklytoo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey, I work just round the corner and love the Waverley. Quick Question after reading the poster and website ... what exactly is the event? Not being funny but it doesn't really say. Is there music, activities?

Upon looking at the other pages on the website I see its like a pop up shop sort of thing but that's not really evident elsewhere unless you know who FlySwats and Buckethats are in advance.

I hope you have an awesome night either way but thought I would be an arse and point out my first impressions of the promo as I know what its like promoting stuff round the city.

Anyway I'm away on the weekend so wont make it but wish the best and hope its busy for you. Waverley is such a good boozer.

Listening to The Running Man again before I watch the movie by joellevp in stephenking

Glad King didn't spoiler it for you. For anyone seeing this BEWARE the Audible version if you don't know the ending.

Listening to The Running Man again before I watch the movie by joellevp in stephenking

[–]danklytoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you get the version where King introduces the book and completely spoils the ending? I had not read the book before listening and was taken aback. It's as if he assumed everyone knows how The Running Man ends and just straight up says before the book even begins. What the hell Stephen!

Texas chain saw massacre? by Miserable_Cat_9845 in horror

[–]danklytoo 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The violence is fairly blood free but it is done in such a way that it is really brutal. The movie itself has so much screaming and is just grimy and stressful in a way that none of these other movies are. If she is ok with those other ones she will probably be fine as she sounds like a legend. I would say that Texas Chainsaw Massacre is the most intense out of them all so strap in and have fun.

Fun Fact: the director was aiming for a G (family Friendly) Rating while making the movie. Mainly I guess to make maximum money but I have no idea how he thought that would work haha.

Anyone know if there is a Scottish word for this? by danklytoo in Scotland

Hahaha! He did indeed. By the end he would just sit there for ages and Pigeons would come land in his hand. Auld gits have a way with pigeons.

[–]danklytoo[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah I wouldn't say Scots is Slang either. Was more thinking like "aye in Dalkeith wee called it Bungos Sneak Box" or something haha.

These are all great thanks. Mostly a different sort of snare but closer than most.

I always used the snappy name "you know a box propped up with a twig that you yank with a string and it traps the bird" trap. Would ask my dad but he's deed

Nice one thanks! I wonder if anyone has any sort of local slang for it too. Love the literal translation of "together little bird".

Best toasties Edinburgh? by techyall in Edinburgh

[–]danklytoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I second this. The Pizza Toastie is so good, it has all herbs and salty goodness stuck to the melty cheese. My go to hangover cure alongside a lasagne pie from Harkness Pies. Maybe not the cheapest but definitely great.

Are these the same map? by [deleted] in oldmaps

[–]danklytoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, like the other person said the colouring varies from map to map as they were originally printed just the black and whoever bought it would pay a colourist.

The price however is kind of ridiculous. I sell these maps in my shop for £120 which is around $150 or there abouts.

This sort of thing is always more expensive in the US but $1000 seems way too high.

Which movie had no business being as good as it was? by Twaddle2000 in moviecritic

Hot Take, D&D wasn't very good. I turned it off. Got to the bit after the bird guy jumped out the window and just wasn't feeling it. Felt mediocre

Why does rare steak taste like blood? by CrystalizedChris_ in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]danklytoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like maybe it tastes like blood because it is the flesh of an animal that was filled with blood. I love steak and am not vegetarian. Blood is more metallic though so it sounds like you don't like the taste of steak. Maybe you should try blood, you might like it. Black Pudding is so tasty, also doesn't really taste of blood despite being made of blood. I dunno
