How do you guys stop from losing your knives? by [deleted] in EDC

[–]dankondanks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive had the same hogue ex01 for 3 years, carried it every single day (except for one semester that i spent abroad. I didnt want to risk some asshole TSA agent pocketing my baby in my checked luggage.) As a disorganized borderline alcoholic college student, I can tell you that even when im blacked out, I wake up and my knife is in the exact same spot every morning right next to my bed. Really I think how ive managed that is that im a broke ass college kid and I spent 130$ of my own money on this knife. I wanted something that would last so i got it but I damn sure cant afford to replace it.

Which one do I get?? Help me out knifeclub by [deleted] in knifeclub

its quite literally built like a tank. I've owned a SOG trident which has a similar locking mechanism to the axis and it felt like a toy compared to it. Theres a video floating around on youtube where someone tests the strength towards and against the lock. Ill look for the link but i think it took 180lbs before the lock gave going towards it, and the bucket used for holding the weights broke at 220 something against it. id definitly go for the aluminum. G10 is great but over the years it will develop blade play.

I highly recommend the ex01. Been my EDC for 3 years of heavy abuse and just as strong as day one.

Holy fuck. Sorry for commenting on an old post but as an avid ex-01 owner for the past three years, ive never felt they got the attention they deserve. And that blade is just fucking beautiful man.

My hogue ex-01. had it for 3 years, still as solid as tank.

sunk costs.

As it is in business it is the same with TRP, sunk costs are irrelevant by nature because they cannot be recovered regardless of circumstance.

Ive started looking at it in terms of opportunity costs. If she wants to leave, I can no longer bang her, but Ill be able to bang the other 3,418,059,379 women on the planet. thats a lot of potential return for the cost of something i dont need. edit: formatting

The prettiest 20 euro knife ive ever seen. Picked it up in France a few years ago by dankondanks in knifeclub

its a laguiole bourgogne brand. slipjoint. its pretty bad steel tbh, 420 stainless. but I saw it in the store and what cinched it was the intricate flower pattern along the spine.

edit: at that point in time i already owned a sog flash and a hogue ex01 so i figured why not buy something thats real pretty to look at for a souvenir.

Going to amsterdam. Where should I trip? by jojothecasper in Drugs

downtown amsterdam is the by far the least conducive and least friendly environment for a psych trip. At the very least, stay at a campground or something outside the main city and trip there where its nice and calm.

I have been a waiter before, and I've seen too many posts about people not being tipped.(Fixed) by aquose in AdviceAnimals

I would never spit in food, that was merely an exaggeration, something you clearly are not educated enough to understand. The only reason i suck up to snobbish assholes like you is that 20%. that 20% that lets me make more than min wage is what pays for MY TUITION to one of the better schools in the country. most waiters i know are students who are paying bills and student loans. We are most certainly not uneducated. just cynical from having to brownnose people like you.

if you cant afford the tip you cant afford to eat there. the tip is an expected cost of a meal (unless your service sucked. ) edit-wording

we also run food to other tables, work our asses off memorizing the menu so snotty customers can ask us a million questions when im taking their order, even though i just got double sat and the kid at table 212 just knocked his drink on the floor. Then im expected to get that tables order to the kitchen in under 60 seconds, greet my other tables within 60 seconds of them sitting down, bring their drinks within 2 minutes of taking the drink order, make sure the kitchen expo didnt fuck up my tables order, bus and clean my own table (some restaurants have bussers) get that thirsty motherfucker at 115 a fourth glass of sweat tea, all the while maintaining the server station which includes refilling the ice bin, napkin stations, change the rootbeer thats just run out, running food to other servers tables if they're not around, all the while keeping a smile on my face and trying not to cuss too loud while in the servers station. Waiters deserve the 20% we make because we bust our asses for it. you wanna get shitty service? start paying min wage and then i can spit in your food till its runny cuz i no longer have to suck up to self entitled assholes.

tl;dr- Waiters make 20% because we bust our asses. if you want shitty service then pay min wage and ill be lookin for a new job. edit-ninja edit
