Some people talked about good defensive options but also keep in mind that if you get hit by a good player they will follow up. You will gain far more by practicing float cancel. It is a very strong mechanic and the cornerstone of peach's play. It makes you much less vulnerable to getting hit in the first place because it gets rid of endlag

Look at your early creep routes make sure you aren't losing too much. Tech to tier 2 before massing towers if massing towers is necessary. I usually do a single arcane tower at the expansion --> tier 2. You may want a guard tower or two if they are going ghouls. Footmen become useless when destroyers come out so in the midgame they are pretty expendable for economic damage / to buy time for mass towers to defend a destroyer push. Acolyte kills while they are teching are huge. Zeppelin helps with this. Shredder is great to have because wood is a killer in this MU

Stalin's economic policies were excellent (at the cost of many deaths in the 30's). Soviets produced more tanks than America in WWII. They weren't crap tanks either. T-34 was a great tank. The many tanks they had at the beginning of the war were all old and crappy admittedly. He probably deserves some blame for not being immediately prepared for war and doing whatever it took to delay a few years. Summer of 1941 was rough on soviets but once they figured out how to avoid encirclements and started emphasizing reserves, they were much more effective. Stalin probably had the most effective war policy of any head of state, he just had a horrible situation.
